Earlier this morning, CCP officially took DUST 514 out of beta and released the game into the wild. The PlayStation 3 exclusive shooter has spent a lot of time in beta testing, so why take the game out of beta now?
Has anything really changed from beta to release? Let's take a look.
Last week, DUST 514 received the Uprising update which was the final step before today's launch. Gameplay updates included:

The mechanics and accompanying skills have all been tweaked as well.
At the end of the day, the just has spoken and the verdict is clear; DUST 514 has truly arrived at a point where CCP can proudly call this a release client. The game feels completely different from our time spent in beta testing and that is exactly how it should be.
If you played the game in beta, we strongly encourage you to go back and give it another spin because this is not the same game that you played even a month ago. CCP has introduced a wealth of changes to bring this game from its lengthy spell in beta testing to proper release and it's worth a second look.
Gearbox Software has released the official skill tree for Krieg the Psycho, the next player class to be introduced in Borderlands 2, and there's a lot here to digest. You can view the full skill tree right here, but let's take a look at some of the highlights.
Buzz Axe Rampage
Krieg's action skill, as we had previously heard, is Buzz Axe Rampage, in which Krieg's melee damage and movement speed are increased and earning kills will instantly refill your health bar. This essentially turns Krieg into a killing machine, but remember it does not affect ranged weapons at all as Krieg is a melee character first and foremost.

Trion Worlds has released patch 1.020 for Defiance, unofficially known as the TV tie-in patch. The patch, so named for its inclusion of crossover events from the popular SyFy program of the same name.
Defiance Producer Nathan Richardsson had the following to say earlier this week:
As proof of us striving towards being better we have another major update coming, known as the TV Tie-in or Patch 1.020, and it’s coming out this month. It has further bug fixes, improvements, as well as new TV Tie-ins – one of which will utilize a new open world game mode called Sieges. Details are obviously slim, but it’s a crossover event so that should give you an indication of what this game mode entails in future DLCs.
Gone are the days of simple tweaks and boring FPS mods. In this day and age, mods are becoming more like full fledged games with every passing year. Come to think of it, there actually are a few shooters that got their start as mods...
Now, we want to be explicitly clear; Battlefield 2 wasn't exclusively started as a mod but it was definitely helped out by the success of Battlefield 1942 mod Desert Combat.
Indeed, the mod was so popular that DICE snapped up the developer - Trauma Studios - and put them to work on the then-in-development Battlefield 2. Sadly, DICE would shutter Trauma Studios within a year of acquiring them, but their legacy lives on in the major FPS they helped develop.

Now, odds are that you just read about Metro's dark undertones. It's unashamed take on violence and maturity in gaming. The technical prowess that 4A Games has demonstrated in Metro: Last Light. Without question, you read about the fantastic environment of the underground. All of these things are true, but there's one thing that reviewers are shying away from discussing.

If you're not familiar with the game, Rising Storm began as a full conversion mod for Red Orchestra 2 before Tripwire Interactive approached the team and offered them full backing from the studio. The teams worked together and Rising Storm was born. This is a full standalone game built upon Red Orchestra 2 framework, but one that moves the action from Europe to the Pacific Theater of War during World War II.
Player will take part in some of the most iconic battles between 1942 to 1945 as the United States Army and Marines fought endlessly against the Japanese Imperial Army and Navy.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is going free to play this weekend on Steam, available for anyone who hasn't had a chance to check out the game to do so without any obligation to purchase.
If you haven't been playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, we highly recommend that you do so for this weekend regardless of whether you have played the franchise in the past. The game is fantastic and a lot of fun to play, especially with friends online. We're thinking that anyone who takes part in the free weekend probably hasn't already played Black Ops 2 in any capacity, so here are a few things that you are not going to want to miss while you have your chance.
Multiplayer - hands down the bread and butter of Call of Duty, make sure you jump online and spend some time in the competitive multiplayer modes that Black Ops 2 offers. Get your feet wet with Team Deathmatch or Free for All if you're new to the game before you move on to objective based game modes. We recommend Domination and Hardpoint as enjoyable objective modes to start with.
Party Games - originally featured in the first Call of Duty: Black Ops, party games are an absolute blast. These free for all game modes all have a unique spin on them that drastically distances them from traditional MP modes. One in the Chamber, for example, spawns every player with only their knife and a pistol with one bullet and three lives. Kill an enemy and you take their bullet - knife them and you don't even have to spend your own ammunition, allowing you to stockpile bullets.
