We are combining our properties to form a more cohesive FPS oriented community instead of just a BF3 one or just a MW3 one. i understand this might be a little sudden but it has been in the works a long time and we will do our best to assuage your fears about the transition.

I really wish you guys would have done this sooner. Most of the community from Modern Warfare 3 Forum is in the process of moving on to a different, third party forum, pretty much identical to how MW3F was before it was acquired by Curse.

Believe me, we tried to get this done as fast as possible. We are just working on a great many things here and we definitely didn't want to rush the creation of the site and hamper it in any way before it was ready. Unfortunately, as you pointed out, some of the community has died, and that is regrettable. However, we hope to pull them together soon and create a nice & new burgeoning community here on FPSGeneral.
Obviously as shown above there will be animosity because of this merger and we urge anyone who isn't happy with this new community to find a new one better suited to them or give us a little time and try to fit in here. We are sorry for the rush and the seeming uncaring for the communities being merged but we are actively monitoring this and hope to smooth out any issues or problems that arise from the merger.
what other websites will be getting merged? or just mw3f and ebf3. BTW without being rude, i think this is a terrible idea, but a good way to destroy thriving communities.
If you really did care about your user base like you claim to then this merger would never have been considered. Most of the members of EBF3 don't want to hear news about other FPS's or even care that they exist that's why they came to a EBF3. And if they did want want news about other games then there are bigger better sites out there. I have a feeling that you are going to lose a lot of the people you're trying to pull over because player from one FPS do not enjoy the company of players from a different FPS. There wasn't much confrentation on EBF3 other than the occasional PC vs Console BS but the bottom line was people just loved Battlefield and wanted to discuss it with others who loved it as well.
I think the best thing to do would be to use FPS General as the central hub for the news from all the other FPS communities but still leave the communities intact and separate. Seems like an obvious thing to if you want to keep your users happy but what do I know, I'm just a user. I highly doubt this will happen and it's a shame to see such a nice site be shut down and a community dispersed because of greed and people who dont understand the phrase "If it aint broke don't fix it". I look forward to seeing how people react to the launch of this new site.

Thanks for the actual reply, worded nicely and not a flame post or something else, it is appreciated. Now to address your concerns, first of all I don't think you can speak for the community of EBF3 or anyone but yourself when you make generalizations like "Most of the members of EBF3 don't want to hear news about other FPS's or even care that they exist that's why they came to a EBF3" it's just guesswork and not fair to those who don't think that as well we want FPSGeneral to become one of the "bigger better sites out there", that is why new sites are made, to challenge old ones, and to ask us to give up immediately on that aspect is questionable. We are however working on a feature that will allow you to focus on one game on the site and ignore the rest of the news you find no interest in, we have heard you in that regard.
To the rest, of course we are going to lose members, it happens, and we are sorry for it. However, both communities have been dwindling and as a result have seen more spam and otherwise less related content and discussion. And while that isn't a driving concern, we feel it can be at least partially remedied in a merger which will clean out old accounts and spammers. I understand your idea to keep the communities seperate, and in the end if this doesn't take we would consider going back to it. This merger is not being done of greed or thinking we need to fix something, it's just that we feel one centralized FPS community would work better for its constituents (in the long term, short term obviously will have some turbulence).
TL;DR I understand the complaints, concerns, and everything involved, but the merger will be happening (with or without me) and if we lose some members to it, so be it. We don't want unhappy members here, so feel free to find a community that better suits your interests, please don't feel forced to come here if you don't want to. But we will be heavily monitoring these forums to keep spam and crossposting to a minimum, we want the respective communities to have their own niche and not be bother by others if they so wish.

Just MW3F and EBF3 at the moment. And I respect your opinion and I don't think it rude, it's just what you believe, can't hold it against you. We really hope that the communities can relocate here peacefully (if that is what they want, we obviously don't want to force people here, feel free to find another community if you don't enjoy this one, but don't generalize us as a bad new website or something, give us a chance, and if we still fail you, then by all means hate all you want) and it isn't our intention to "destroy" them as you eloquently put.
Even if I wanted to stop the merger, it's not in my hands to do so, I am just the messenger, trying to explain and keep this conversation placid and without malice.

Well at EBF3 we have a strong anti COD feel I dont want to be rude but how about laeving us alone and just have a link to our website. if you have 2 communiteies here it would be very overcrowded and its already rather messy but give it though and think deeper into what you are doing and if yoyu think EBF3 is dead now after you get it there wont be any life what so ever.
At EBF3 as you might guess we DO NOT LIKE YOU, why would ou do this I mean we were fine now were being forced in with a bunch of COD fanboys I would like a really good reason not hate.
We understand there are going to be those who are not happy with this, and there isn't much we can do but apologize, but at this point, there isn't much to be done. Complaining won't help, but suggestions will. Tell us what you want here to make it more like the BF3 forum you want instead of dismissing the forum altogether. As to the reason, it is as I said above, we believe that one cohesive and combined group, long term, will make a better community, even though right now you might not think so. Only time will tell who is right and wrong.
And as to being forced together with CoD Fanboys, I really don't see how that is relative. You never have to set foot in that forum if you don't want to and we are working on a way to filter out non-related content so you could focus on bf3 or whichever game you wish. I would also guess that many (not all, but a sizeable amount) people who play BF3 also play CoD, one does not preclude the other no matter how you wish it so. As to getting along with members from both (or rather all games) communities, it only speaks to each yours (or others) maturity if you cannot co-exist in the off topic forums because of your preexisting biases towards game's player bases.
Overall, we don't see crossposting of BF3 to CoD or CoD to BF3 (or any other game for that matter) being an issue as we will be heavily watching for flaming and instigatory posts for exactly that reason, not to mention heavily policing the ruleset constantly to create a nice and clean community.
I would like a reason for the merge or is it just a way to get some of the 20000 registered members to view this sight...
