Ubisoft has released a free companion app for their zombie shooter, ZombiU, for Apple iOS devices including iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone.

The companion app immerses you even further in ZombiU's setting, allowing you to learn more about the infection that has ravaged London including signs that you or a loved one may have been infected. The application will help you prepare for an emergency as well, allowing you to record emergency messages for your loved ones in the event that you are infected.

The two primary functions of the application are to learn more about the infection and leave messages for your loved ones:

Infection Simulator

• Learn about the virus, physical symptoms and behaviour patterns 
• See what will happen to you if you get bitten by a zombie
• Watch the symptoms escalate as the virus takes hold of you and transforms you into a flesh eating zombie
• Share your photo via Facebook, Twitter and Email 

Emergency Messages

• Leave a message to let people know you are safe while you still can
• Record your own personal video and share via Facebook and YouTube.

Ubisoft has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming Wii U launch title, ZombiU, giving us our first look at the multiplayer component of the game in action.

The game mode on display is really exciting and we think it's going to be a lot of fun. As illustrated in the trailer above, this is a 1 vs 1 game mode in which one player is cast as the King of the Zombies while the other plays as The Survivor. Whoever is playing as the King can actually control the zombies using elements from real-time strategy games, giving orders to the zombie horde from the Wii U Gamepad.

The Survivor, on the other hand, has a range of weapons and tools at his disposal with just one goal in mind; stay alive.

In the trailer, which you can view by clicking the image above, we get to see both sides of the action, although we wouldn't mind a little more raw gameplay in the future.

ZombiU is set to launch on November 18th in North America (November 30th in Europe, alongside the Nintendo Wii U console release in those regions.

Ubisoft has released a brand new developer diary, taking players behind the scenes on their upcoming first-person shooter, ZombiU.

The Nintendo Wii U is scheduled to launch next month and no game inside the launch window is getting us more excited than ZombiU. The combination of Ubisoft's brilliant incorporation of the Wii U peripherals on top of what appears to be a genuinely awesome zombie shooter has quickly rocketed ZombiU to the top of our list of most-anticipated Wii U titles.

In the developer diary above, Story Design Directors Gabrielle Shrager and Antony Johnston discuss the setting and story behind ZombiU. The general idea here is that a plague has broken out across London, blanketing the city in death as 'as hundreds upon thousands of the unprepared die or are infected by a sickness worse than death.'

Nintendo held their big Nintendo Wii U reveal event this morning, outing the pricing, availability and full specs on their upcoming home gaming console. One of those coveted Wii U launch titles is Ubisoft's first-person shooter ZombiU, a game we've really been looking forward to.

During Nintendo's press event, Ubisoft released a brand new trailer for the game, once again showing some exciting examples of how the Wii U GamePad is being put to great use in ZombiU.

The trailer also shows more of the London environments, a portion of which includes Buckingham Palace - where you will not be enjoying tea with Prince Harry.

It's Friday, in case you haven't noticed. And what better way to celebrate Friday than the very first developer diary from Ubisoft on their upcoming zombie survival game, ZombiU?

In the video, embedded above, Senior Producer Guillaume Brunier discusses how the team went about using Nintendo Wii U peripherals to set ZombiU apart from other zombie survival games.

The team made the decision early on to incorporate the Wii Pad heavily into ZombiU and we couldn't be more excited for that. Right away, the decision was made to not view the Wii Pad as a controller, but rather as the players 'Survival Kit'. As such, the Wii Pad has multiple functions in the game to help you have the best chance of survival in the brutal and horrifying version of London that Ubisoft has designed.

Something to note, is Brunier's insistence that ZombiU will be available this Christmas. Nintendo has been very careful not to date the Wii U, but something is making Brunier pretty confident that their launch title will ship this Christmas We'll see if it gets pushed back or if Nintendo will be ready to launch their brand new console sooner than later.

ZombiU really impressed us at E3 2012 this year, but we weren't able to capture any video of the game in action aside from the debut trailer. Ubisoft, however, was on hand in Montreal, Canada to present ZombiU at a Nintendo conference.

In the video above, Jeux Online spends about ten minutes playing ZombiU with the brand new WiiPad controller. The game still looks impressive and the control system is easily one of the most exciting control schemes we've come across in a long time. The WiiPad has a plethora of uses in ZombiU and when you start to use it in real life, your in-game character also pulls out a little tablet-like device and starts to use that, bringing the immersion up to the next level.
