Yemen takes place on Socotra, a group of four islands in the Indian Ocean that is a part of Yemen. The map features urban combat with both long-range sightlines and tighter, close quarters combat.
As with most maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the routes and lanes are pretty easy to define. There are basically three main routes, one on each side of the map and the obligatory center lane that is going to play home to most of the fighting on Yemen, regardless of the game mode.
Verticality definitely comes into play with several multi-story buildings that you can use to reach higher vantage points. This means that you're going to need to watch multiple levels when going in to capture or defend objectives. On the other hand, it also means you can use these buildings to set up inside of with your long-range rifle to pick off enemies below. Make sure you're packing a claymore or bouncing betty if this is your tactic.
Take a look at the overhead map below to see a good illustration of the routes that you will need to be familiar with in Yemen. The center route takes the brunt of the fighting and, in our experience, both flanking routes tend to be pretty hot as well.
