Crysis 3 Assault Rifles

Use the navigation at the top to learn everything you need to know about the weapons in Crysis 3!

In this section, we'll take a look at the assault rifles in the game's competitive multiplayer mode. Before we proceed, however, let's take a look at what assault rifles are designed to be used for and how you will best succeed in Crysis 3 with this weapon type.

Assault rifles are the midway point between light machine guns and sub-machine guns. Where LMGs are heavy and weigh the player down and sub-machine guns enable you to be speedy, assault rifles offer something right in the middle. In Crysis 3 multiplayer, there are two assault rifles available to you; the Scarab and the FY7 IM. Both of these weapons are great for mid-range to long-range fighting.

The successful assault rifle user is one who plays with them at these ranges. Trying to go in close, or go for exceptionally long-range kills, and you're going to have a harder time. Going up against a shotgun-wielding player in close quarters with your assault rifle is a quick way to get taken down almost every time. Study the maps, learn the layout of the terrain and the routes. Choose routes and hot spots where you have plenty of cover and an open area in front of you.

If you're new to Crysis or first-person shooters in general, our advice is always the same; go for an assault rifle before you delve into the other weapon types. Assault rifles are reliable, easy to learn and the recoil is manageable for inexperienced players. In Crysis 3, our recommendation is sticking with the Scarab Mod 2 while you get a feel for the mechanics of the game and the layout of the maps.
