According to rumor swirling around the Internet, Electronic Arts may be unveiling a subscription service for Battlefield 3, similar to the wildly successful service Activision launched last November in Call of Duty Elite.
The concept of EA revealing a service like this for Battlefield 3 is not surprising, although we would have assumed that the service would be geared towards Medal of Honor: Warfighter and future Battlefield titles rather than Battlefield 3. Earlier this year, EA own John Ricitiello said, "To Activision's credit, what they did with Elite - certainly when you speak to retailers who were selling the cards, and you speak to gamers who think it's a great deal - they've done a phenomenal job in marketing digital content going forward."
It is clear that EA admires the work that Activision has done, and as the old saying goes, imitation is the highest form of flattery. E3 gets underway next month in Los Angeles, CA so be sure to bookmark FPSGeneral.com for the latest shooter news from the show floor!
