DICE Addresses The Battlefield 4 Beta...Sort Of

Earlier this morning, Electronic Arts officially confirmed that players who pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be guaranteed access to the beta test for Battlefield 4. The news was speculated for a week or so before EA confirmed it and now DICE, the developer of both Battlefield 3 and 4, have addressed it...sort of.

In a community message posted this afternoon, DICE acknowledged that Medal of Honor: Warfighter pre-orders will receive access to Battlefield 4's beta but stressed that the focus right now is not on Battlefield 4, but on Battlefield 3. The letter is available at the link below, but an excerpt reads:

The team at DICE is hard at work on the next entry in the Battlefield series, and to ensure access to the exclusive Battlefield 4 beta, shooter fans can pre-order Medal of Honor Warfighter today. While there is no further Battlefield 4 news at this point – remember, if you don’t see it published here, it’s just rumor and speculation – we did want to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts on the state of the Battlefield franchise.

We are extremely proud of Battlefield 3, and with millions of fans out there, we’re happy you’re enjoying it too. When we launched the game, we introduced unparalleled levels of in-game destruction, all-out vehicle warfare and redefined online gameplay. Even with billions of bullets fired and millions of games played, we know the Battlefield 3 story is still just the beginning.

The full letter can be read at http://www.battlefield.com/, but they really don't talk about Battlefield 4 or the impending beta at all, which is understandable considering that Battlefield 3 has quite a long DLC schedule ahead of it and shifting focus away from the game doesn't make much sense at this stage of the game.

Stay tuned to FPS General, we're going to be continuing our coverage of all of these games and more!
