Gearbox Releasing Mechromancer as $10 DLC in October, Free With Pre-Order &

Gearbox Software has revealed pricing and availability for the post-launch Borderlands 2 Mechromancer character class. The DLC is currently in development at Gearbox now that the game is officially wrapped up and heading for shipment later this month.

If you're one of the many folks who pre-ordered Borderlands 2, rest assured that the DLC is yours already and will be completely free. If you're not sure about pre-ordering the game, however, and decide to pick up the Mechromancer DLC after the game has launched, you're looking at 800MSP/$9.99. Very affordable, when you're average Call of Duty map pack retails at nearly double that price point.

The Mechromancer seems to be a great fit for player who aren't completely comfortable behind the wheel in first-person shooters. With some of the skill tree unveiled already, we're seeing abilities that will help compensate for poor aim and the like.

Gearbox Software will be releasing the Mechromancer DLC on October 16th, while Borderlands 2 hits shelves on September 18th.
