Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 Weapons Maker Spotlight: Hyperion

Yes, Hyperion is the evil, merciless corporation featured in Borderlands 2. Yes, they are headed by CEO Handsome Jack. Yes, the same Handsome Jack who wants you and your bandit friends rounded up and executed. But, we'd be kidding ourselves if we said they don't make some of the finest weaponry in Pandora.

Hyperion specializes in four weapon types; Sniper Rifles, Submachine Guns, Pistols and Shotguns. All Hyperion weaponry comes with cutting-edge stabilizer technology. What this means is that initially, the weapon has some pretty hefty sway and recoil but before long, the stabilizer kicks in and compensates for it, providing a smooth experience for the rest of that magazine.

Basically, the longer you fire a Hyperion weapon, the more accurate it becomes.

Pistols

Hyperion manufacturers several different models of pistol, some of which include the Inspiring Lady Fist, the Earnest Apparatus, the Maximized Vision and the Win-Win Impact. These range in price from $2,279 to $8,572.

Perhaps the most powerful pistol that you can acquire from Hyperion is the Win-Win Impact but the accuracy (or lack thereof), firing rate and slow reload time balance out the higher damage point.

The Inspiring Lady Fist, on the other hand, is a well-balanced pistol with higher-end damage, reasonable accuracy and a quick reload time.

If you're buying Hyperion, and you're going for a pistol, our money is on the Lady Fist.

Keep reading for more information on the sniper rifles, submachine guns and shotguns that Hyperion is currently producing.

Sniper Rifles

If you're playing as Zero, or just looking to indulge in some long-range headshots, Hyperion has a wealth of unique sniper rifles that you can acquire in Borderlands 2. Each rifle has its own distinct advantage, some with more power and a lower rate of fire while others have less damage and a higher fire rate.

A few of the sniper rifles that Hyperion has available include the Longitudinal Sniper Rifle, the Practical Policy, the Facilitating Sniper Rifle, the Venture Morningstar, the Resource Competition and a classified rifle known only as the Cohesion Invader. Hyperion sniper rifles range in price from free (Venture Morningstar) to $133,833 for the classified Cohesion Invader.

If you don't find yourself being terribly accurate with your first shot, you may want to consider Hyperion for your sniper rifle of choice as it takes a few shots before the stabilizer kicks in to even things out.

Submachine Guns

Hyperion SMGs are ideal for making use of the trademark Hyperion stabilizer. With a large magazine, Hyperion SMGs will be inaccurate for 10 or 12 shots, but after that it will be smooth sailing for the remainder of your magazine.

On Hyperion's Corporate Bane SMG, that means you'll have somewhere around 50 shots to fire that will be lethally accurate.

In addition to Corporate Bane, Hyperion also offers the Proactive Backburner, the Social Weisenheimer, the Analytical Transmurdera and the Rightsizing Bitch among others. All of these SMGs have varying stats, but generall speaking they all boast a high rate of fire and decent magazine size. If you're in the market for a Hyperion firearm, the SMGs will be your best bet in terms of sheer amount of ammunition per magazine.

Hyperion pistols range from $2,279 to $8,572.

Once the stabilizer kicks in, players actually don't have to aim down the sights to achieve the maximum amount of accuracy with their weapon. This makes Hyperion SMGs a good option for Salvador, when he is Gunzerking as both weapons will be pretty accurate for him.

Shotguns

Hyperion shotguns are known not only for their sheer power and lethality, but for their accuracy. The clever marksman can actually use Hyperion shotguns to take down enemies at mid-range as well as in close quarters. With shotguns, you aren't actually firing a single round but rather a burst of projectiles, or 'shot'.

With Hyperion shotguns, you get a tighter spread of shot meaning that you can be more accurate at longer distances.

Some of the shotguns available from Hyperion include the Refactored Projectile Diversification, Social Shotgun #1340, the Practical Conference Call, the Critical Croudsourcing, Miss Moxxi's Heart Breaker and Scalable Thinking. These shotguns vary in power and accuracy but tend to hover around the higher-powered, higher-accuracy marks.

Price-wise, the shotguns range from $1,357 up to $86,430.

Hyperion definitely has some great weapons available, from powerfully lethal shotguns to accurate and deadly sniper rifles. If you can master the intense weapon sway before the stabilizer kicks in, Hyperion weapons can serve you well.

Even if they are manufactured by the enemy.

This is a badly written article that shows a basic misunderstanding of the way Borderlands works. It strikes me as really lazy.

This information was handed to us directly from 2K Games and Gearbox Software.

And that's ALL you used for research? Anyone who's played Borderlands or read a preview of Borderlands 2 can poke holes in your article. If you're going to write a game you'd better do more than grab information out of a press kit.

And are you saying you can write better? Then please go ahead, write one and post a link here so we can see your much greater researched article. Since no articles so far out there seems to have all the brands weapon parts described, I much prefer it if you include all the brands weapon parts as well.

Anyway, for me, i just can't get use hyperions' guns. I just don't feel like I have to waste some ammo before getting some mediocre damage shots on target. I don't know...maybe this brand is made for gunzerker as it's skills allows to fire massive amount of ammo.
