Activision has confirmed to Joystiq that there will be no Call of Duty XP this year. Last year marked the inaugural Call of Duty XP event but it looks like Black Ops 2 won't be getting the same fanfare this time around.
If you weren't following the Call of Duty world last year, Call of Duty XP was a massive event that went down in Los Angeles, celebrating all things Call of Duty. From restaurants themed after Call of Duty locale, a real life zipline to a full replication of Modern Warfare 2's Scrapyard map in paintball form, Call of Duty XP was an epic event with all proceeds going to the Call of Duty Endowment.
Instead of going all out on Call of Duty XP this year, Activision has said that they will be putting more emphasis on Gamescom, which takes place in Cologne, Germany later this year.
Call of Duty XP was home to the full multiplayer reveal for Modern Warfare 3, so no word yet on where that reveal will take place this year now that Call of Duty XP won't be happening. Either way, we'll be following closely and will be hammering out the Black Ops 2 news and rumors.
