Map Awareness & Control on Meltdown in Black Ops 2

Map awareness and map control may seem like similar concepts and, while this may be true, they have some fundamental differences that can help you improve in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Here's what we mean:

Simply understanding what is around you at any given time requires strong map awareness. Think of it like an extra layer of mental awareness, enabling you to recognize when you are in a hot area of the map or when you are moving in an area where you can be spotted by enemy players. Having map awareness increases your odds of putting up a good performance.

Map control, on the other hand, is the ability to alter those surroundings with scorestreak rewards and equipment. Using the tools at your disposal to say, "Yes, I understand that this is a hotspot right now, but here are the tools that I am going to use to succeed anyway."

Prime example; placing a Claymore in the only attainable entrance to your building is map control. Knowing that it's the only available entrance to your building in the first place, is map awareness.

Check out the video above to get a better understanding of what we're talking about. The idea here is to help you increase your ability to control and understand your surroundings, ultimately making you a better player and guaranteeing a more enjoyable Black Ops 2 experience.
