Bohemia Interactive pushed out an update for their popular military simulator ARMA II earlier this week, and with the patch came a number of weapon changes in the game. As you probably know, the popular zombie mmo DayZ is a mod for ARMA II, so how do these changes affect the game?
Many of the weapons altered in this update are used in DayZ, so all of the changes will be reflected in both games. Unfortunately, most of the weapons were nerfed - meaning that the damage they deal was significantly reduced. The full list looks like this:
| Weapon | Previous Damage | Nerfed Damage |
| G17 | 1389 | 889 |
| M9 | 1389 | 889 |
| M9 SD | 1389 | 889 |
| PDW | 1389 | 889 |
| Makarov PM | 2000 | 889 |
| M1911 | 4500 | 1389 |
| Revolver | 4500 | 1389 |
| MP5A5 | 1389 | 889 |
| MP5SD6 | 1389 | 889 |
| Bizon PP-19 SD | 1389 | 889 |
| Double-barreled Shotgun | 6722 | 4500 |
| M1014 | 6722 | 4500 |
| Remington 870 (Flashlight) | 6722 | 4500 |
| AK-74 | 3555 | 2722 |
| AKS-74U | 3555 | 2722 |
| AKS-74 Kobra | 3555 | 2722 |
| Lee Enfield | 12500 | 6722 |

Posted 7/31/2012 6:43:16 AMYeah, anyone who welcomes this change should be playing Call of Duty instead of a military simulator...

Posted 7/30/2012 6:13:14 PMThis is a sad day in the ArmA world. I suppose it's to try to draw in the high twitch gamers who rely on being able to be hit a few times and still have a chance. It took about 6 hits from a pistol point blank for me to take out a bandit on the hill northeast of Electro. Changed my mag twice, blew my mind. I would love to see this change reversed...

Posted 7/30/2012 7:01:25 PMIMO, they shouldn't change a core tenet of the game to accomodate people who'd rather see it changed than better their play. Last night, my friend and I each popped this guy, once with an AKM and once with an M4, and he was still up and running around. Seems legit... =\

Posted 7/30/2012 4:23:23 PMI find it a little ironic that ARMA 2, a military simulator, would do this. I'm not really sure in what simulated reality a subsonic 9mm (M9 SD, MP5SD6) does the same amount of damage as a supersonic 9mm (G17, M9, MP5A5), or god forbid a .45 (M1911, Revolver). IMO, the damage was fine where it was and pretty realistic. Now it takes two killshots from a 1911 on a boar to actually put it down...
