DayZ

Join Us For The Next DayZ Showdown This Saturday, October 6th

If you've been following events here on FPS General, you'll be familiar with the King of the Hill tournaments that we've been planning alongside Curse.com.

If not, the brief back story here is that we're going to be running a series of tournaments each week in a variety of games, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and DayZ. Each week we will be crowning a new King of the Hill in each game we're playing. It's not all about shooters, however, as we have matches going in League of Legends, World of Warcraft, World of Tanks and more.

But this isn't MMO General, is it? This is FPS General and here we play shooters!

With that being said, the next shooter that we'll be hosting a tournament for in Week One of the King of the Kill event will be this Saturday's DayZ Showdown. We've done these in the past and they've been a lot of fun. Well, this time we're opening up registration for the event to our readers. Before we get into that, however, a bit of information on the Showdown is called for.

In the FPS General DayZ Showdown, 32 players will spawn in separate locations on a very specialized cut-down version of Chernarus, alone and sparsely armed. Competitors will be given only a hunting knife, a hatchet, some bandages and very little else.

To survive, players will make use of their foraging skills and the ability to remain unseen until you have managed to equip yourself with something more powerful than a Revolver with no ammunition. All high-powered rifles and snipers have been removed except the CS50 and any normally spawned weapons.

Food and water will be available in limited quantities with lengthy spawn times in between appearances.

Do you think you have what it takes to enter the DayZ Showdown and come out on top? The last man standing will walk away with $100 and the honor of being Curse's King of the Hill in DayZ.

Interested competitors should send an email to dayzshowdown@gmail.com, just introducing yourself and sharing a bit of your DayZ history with us; how you got into the game, how often you play and what you think makes you a good fit for the tournament.

We're going to be inviting 32 players every week, so even if you aren't selected this time around, we'll be selecting new players each week so don't lose heart, your day will come. The question is whether or not you'll survive when it does.
