Defiance has been getting us excited for a while, so to finally get some hands on time with the game at E3 was great.
If you're not familiar with the game, that should change in the future, as we get closer to the ultimate launch date. Defiance is both a television program on SyFy channel and a third-person shooter set in an immersive, persistent MMO game world. While the concept is ambitious, we've been a bit hesitant to get too pumped up before actually seeing the game in person and getting a chance to play it for a while.
After seeing it, we're definitely looking forward for the release date when we can play with others online. Defiance will boast a variety of vehicles. The SyFy program will launch at around the same time as Defiance the game goes live, and actions in one can affect the other.
Talking with Trion developers, it seems like the SyFy program will be able to go more in-depth with some of the characters in the game, fleshing out their backstories and giving you a sense that you really know the character.
In regards to progression, players will be able to rank up and unlock mods for their weapons. Mods are things like new scopes, grips, magazine upgrades, etc. Check out the video above to get a better idea of what to expect when Defiance goes live.
Be sure to check out our special E3 2012 headquarters for more shooter news as it comes out of Los Angeles.
