2012 was a great year for gaming and, specifically, first-person shooters. We saw a bunch of really good games get released and 2013 is shaping up to be another amazing year for gaming. We got the team together and deliberated on all of the shooters that are coming out this year and did our best to narrow it down to a Top 5. It proved to be just about impossible, however, but what we were left with can be viewed in the video above.
For those of you at work or school who can't watch the video, the list looks like this:
Battlefield 4 is a game that we don't know much about but we can't wait to see the direction that DICE takes the franchise in. They haven't reach the annualization of Call of Duty yet, so we're holding out for some major franchise decisions that return the series to its Battlefield 2 roots.
4. Watch Dogs
Yes, Watch Dogs is not a first-person shooter, but this list comprises our most-anticipated shooters, period. This includes both first- and third-person shooters, and Watch Dogs looks incredibly promising indeed. Information warfare and some incredibly powerful player abilities make Watch Dogs very exciting.
3. Crysis 3
We loved both of the first Crysis games and the series has become one of the most prominent first-person shooter franchises that isn't being churned out every year. Crysis 2 multiplayer was incredibly fun and the story ended on an amazing note, making us really excited to learn more about the fate of Prophet.
Naughty Dog won us over with Uncharted and everything we've seen from The Last of Us has us on the edge of our seats for another incredible third-person adventure game.
When it comes to first-person shooters, there really is no substitute for BioShock. With BioShock Infinite, Irrational Games is staying true to the fundamentals that made BioShock such an incredible game, while branching out into a completely new - but equally as engaging - environment in Columbia, the floating 1912 city.
We had to skip over a lot of great shooters to make this list, so keep reading after the break to see our honorable mentions. As much fun as we had making this list, we are equally as interested to hear yours!
