Microsoft Studios and 343 Industries first unveiled Halo 4 at last year's E3 in Los Angeles, but until today the team has kept mum on when we will be able to get our hands on the game. The silence is broken, and Master Chief officially returns on November 6th, 2012 - Election Day for Americans.
While everyone debates over Romney or Obama, Halo fans worldwide will be plunging into the first adventure to star the iconic Master Chief since 2007's Halo 3. In the upcoming Halo game, Master Chief and Cortana find themselves drifting aboard the wrecked UNSC vessel Forward Unto Dawn. 343 Industries plans to move beyond the traditional FPS gameplay and are incorporating elements of exploration and mystery, as well.
This next chapter in the Halo franchise will span three full games, and from the sound of things, will involve a much darker story than previous Halo titles. While Bungie Studios has moved on to a new project, 343 Industries and Microsoft Studios are not skipping a beat when it comes to creating a worthy entry into Halo canon.
"We are beginning a new saga with 'Halo 4' and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of 'Halo' games and experiences," says Phil Spencer, Corporate VP at Microsoft Studios. "Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and, with 'Halo 4' leading the charge, we're confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history."
