  • Sink Your Teeth Into Free Primal Carnage DLC

Reverb Publishing has announced that they have released some brand new DLC for their first-person shooter Primal Carnage. The dinosaur vs human chaos just got more chaotic with a brand new game mode, one new map and one modified version of an old map as well as one brand new dinosaur to kill with and be killed by.

The Spinosaurus is a fearsome predator and serves as the final objective in your path in the brand new 'Get to the Chopper' game mode.

This game mode tasks players to make their way through various objectives as they attempt to reach a helicopter that will escort them from the hell that they have encountered on the island. Naturally, their are hordes of dinosaurs awaiting them at every checkpoint so it's not going to be easy reaching that chopper and getting yourself to safety. As you make the last rush to the chopper, the Spinosaurus makes his debut with a one-hit kill bite from his jaws and lethal claw attacks. 'Get to the Chopper' is played on a brand new map, known as Downpour. The jungle-themed map seems like the perfect setting for this kind of game mode.

The best part about all of this DLC? It's completely free of charge to everyone who owns Primal Carnage.

  • Primal Carnage Sharpening Its Claws For October 29th Release

Reverb Publishing has announced that their upcoming first-person shooter, Primal Carnage, will be releasing to the public on October 29th. Primal Carnage, of course, is most noted for being a human-vs-dinosaur shooter, something the world really needs more of.

We've been playing the beta for a couple weeks now and even had the chance to chat with some of the folks working on the game earlier this month.

In Primal Carnage, players are able to play as both the humans and the dinosaurs, both of which have their strengths and weaknesses. For the most part, dinosaurs need to get in close before they can actually attack the humans but their superior speed makes this a pretty easy feat. Just the same, if the humans are alert and paying attention to their surroundings, they should be able to track incoming dinosaurs and do their best to take them down before they're too close.

In this humble author's opinion, Primal Carnage has two things going very well for it; the use of Unreal Engine to power the game and an extensive roadmap of downloadable content. Unreal Engine is hands-down the most versatile and powerful game engine licensed for public use. There may be better engines (Frostbite 2), but not just anyone can walk up to DICE and license Frostbite for their product.

We're not paleontologists here at FPS General, but there were a hell of a lot of awesome dinosaurs out there not named Pterodactyl, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptor. The promise of downloadable content to potentially include more dinosaurs with unique abilities is very exciting, indeed.

When the game launches on October 29th, it will be available for just $14.99 - a very reasonable price for a full, multiplayer-only game. Check out http://www.primalcarnage.com/ for information on where you can pre-order the game.

  • Pre-Order Primal Carnage for Immediate Access to Open Beta

Reverb Publishing has announced that players can now begin pre-ordering Lukewarm Media's Primal Carnage to receive immediate access to the game's open beta test.

If you're not familiar with the title, Primal Carnage is an upcoming online-only first-person shooter that pits humans vs dinosaurs in a battle to the death. There are ten total classes to play, five each for humans and dinosaurs.

We had a chance to get an early look at Primal Carnage over the weekend and the game feels great. Without a wealth of players in the game just yet, it was hard to get a proper feeling for what Primal Carnage would feel like but we did get a chance to check out some of the classes and core gameplay mechanics.

All of the classes are unique and bring something different to the fight, so regardless of which team you're on - humans or dinosaurs - you'll have a wide array of options right from the start. While the dinosaurs are very powerful, they're not invincible, something that we were concerned about from the outset. There have been dinosaur vs humans shooters in the past, and something that they all seem to struggle with is balancing the dinosaurs so that each match isn't horribly one-sided. It felt like Primal Carnage gets this aspect right, but we'll need more time with the game to tell for sure.

Dinosaurs are essentially helpless from a distance so, unless they sneak up on you with their superior speed, you should be able to take them down as they are approaching.

Primal Carnage's open beta launched this morning and pre-orders are live right now. Check out http://www.primalcarnage.com/ for information on where you can pre-order the game.
