Hi-Rez Studios has announced that they will be releasing the Staying Alive content update for Tribes: Ascend in the near future, bringing some exciting in-game features as well as a few new weapons for the Brute class.
First off, the Brute class weapons. For those of you who haven't checked it out yet, the Brute is a class worthy of your time, a fact that FPS General's own Crazy Penguin will attest to. The new weapons are the Gladiator, the Plasma Cannon and the Survival Pack. The Gladiator is another sticky-explosive weapon, but with a slight twist; Gladiator rounds explode on impact with enemies, removing their ability to charge you after they've been stuck, in an attempt to take you down with them.
The Plasma Cannon is a heavier version of the Raider's Plasma Gun and features a slower rate of fire, with more damage. The Survival Pack can be equipped to give your Brute slightly more health and energy, while increasing energy regeneration and running speed on the ground.
On top of these new weapons, Hi-Rez is bringing some awesome new in-game features as well. Players will be able view YouTube videos right from the Tribes: Ascend game client. These videos include community videos, Hi-Rez videos, Training Videos and Live Streams. Teaming up with Twitch.tv, Hi-Rez will be giving players the option of streaming tournaments right from the game client.
