  • Here is Everything You Need to Know About Dead Space 3's Story

    • By NateRios 1/31/2013 7:04:32 PM
    • Category IconDead Space 3

Dead Space 3 is due out in just a few short days, so it's time to start familiarizing yourself with the story that Visceral Games is telling with this third installment of the franchise.

The game, once again, follows the happenings of Isaac Clarke. He has been the protagonist of the Dead Space series since that fateful crash into the landing bay of the Ishimura. In Dead Space 3, the story picks up a few months after the events of the previous game. Clarke and Ellie Langford come in contact with John Carver, a survivor of the Necromorph attack on the planet Uxor. The trio discover Tau Volantis, a frozen wasteland of a planet where they discover that someone had been able to stop a Necromorph outbreak.

Unfortunately, their ship breaks apart upon entry and Ellie is separated from Clarke and Carver. As a result, the two decide to pursue and rescue Ellie in addition to doing their best to solve the Necromorph problem once and for all. Dead Space 3 supports a drop-in, drop-out co-op system that would let a second player join as Carver at any given time. The game actually changes based on whether one or two players are playing, as Carver has a very interesting backstory himself.

Check out the story trailer for Dead Space 3 below!

  • BioShock Infinite 'City in the Sky' Trailer Released

    • By NateRios 1/31/2013 5:51:20 PM

    • 0

2K Games has released a brand new trailer for BioShock Infinite, showing off some gameplay on Columbia. In contrast to the last trailer released for the game, this one features a ton of gameplay and footage from the game itself.

As you most likely know, BioShock Infinite follows the story of Booker DeWitt as he attempts to rescue Elizabeth and escape Columbia in one peace. The problem is that the city is in the midst of a civil struggle between two factions known as the Founders and Vox Populi. Although he doesn't know why, Elizabeth is at the heart of this conflict and escaping the floating city of Columbia is not nearly as easy as he had hoped.

The year is 1912 and Booker DeWitt is headed to the city of Columbia. A technological marvel amongst the clouds, Columbia holds a dark secret, and with it, a mysterious girl. Upon arrival, Booker discovers that rescuing the imprisoned girl will be more difficult than he could have imagined.

Check out the trailer below. BioShock Infinite is due to arrive on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on March 26th, 2013.

  • RIP Medal of Honor, Iconic Franchise Taken Out Of EA's Rotation

    • By NateRios 1/31/2013 12:45:57 AM
    • Category IconMedal of Honor: Warfighter
    • 0

EA announced in a conference call this evening that they would be pulling Medal of Honor out of their rotation  presumably for the foreseeable future. While we enjoyed Medal of Honor: Warfighter, critics - for the most part - did not. The game was fun but it had its share of setbacks and, unfortunately, that can make or break you in this industry.

According to PC Gamer, EA COO Peter Moore said:

The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers. Critics were polarised and gave the game scores which were frankly lower than deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of rotation and have to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings.

At the time of this writing, no word was available on the fate of Danger Close, the studio who developed the past two Medal of Honor titles. For Battlefield fans, rest assured that EA is very happy with DICE and the direction they are taking the Battlefield franchise in so there is no immediate concern for the future of that series.

As EA had planned to rotate a new Medal of Honor game with a new Battlefield game every year, we're unsure where this leaves that development schedule. We'll update you as soon as we learn more!

  • Hawken Looks Amazing With Nvidia PhysX

    • By NateRios 1/30/2013 8:35:00 PM
    • Category IconHawken
    • 0

Nvidia has released a brand new trailer, in partnership with Meteor Games, showing off the effects of Nvidia's in-house PhysX technology in the free to play mech shooter Hawken.

To start with, Hawken has a lot going for it even without factoring PhysX into the fold. Unreal Engine 3 powers the game as players engage in epic battles from the cockpits of their mechs, wielding multiple weapons on totally customizable loadouts. To look at it, Hawken doesn't appear to be a F2P game at first glance and that has a lot to do with the powerful tech that the game is built upon. Part of that tech is the aforementioned PhysX technology, available exclusively from Nvidia. If you're not familiar with it, PhysX basically takes games to the next level in what they can do with physics in games that are running on Nvidia GPU's.

Games like Borderlands 2 and Hawken make use of PhysX on PC to step their games up and deliver an unprecedented visual experience. Check out the trailer above for an example of what we're talking about and visit http://www.geforce.com/ for more information on PhysX itself.

The much-anticipated release date is something we've been curious about for a long time as Defiance has long been rumored for an April release date. This April 2nd date will correspond nicely with the projected April debut date of the Defiance SyFy program, as well.

The trailer, entitled 'Join the Fight', can be viewed in its entirety above. For more on Defiance, make sure you visit the Defiance Wiki on Gamepedia at http://defiance.gamepedia.com/.

Defiance is available for pre-order on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC and ships on April 2nd.

  • Black Ops 2 Revolution DLC Accidentally Confirmed For Wii U?

    • By NateRios 1/30/2013 10:01:04 AM
    • Category IconCall of Duty: Black Ops 2
    • 1

Earlier this evening, Treyarch released an update for the Nintendo Wii U version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 inadvertently confirming the eventual release of today's Revolution DLC expansion on that platform. With Activision's current and past support for Nintendo consoles, this isn't too surprising but it does make it the first Call of Duty game to get full DLC support on a Nintendo platform, unless we're much mistaken.

The DLC was first noticed the Barracks menu, where Treyarch inadvertently gave everyone access to the Peacekeeper SMG calling cards. As you know, the Peacekeeper is available exclusively in the Revolution DLC so the cats out of the bag there. In addition to the Peacekeeper, Revolution also includes the following:

    Four multiplayer maps:

    • Mirage
    • Hydro
    • Grind
    • Downhill

    One Zombies map:

    • Die Rise

It also includes a brand new Zombies game mode in Turned, which sees players taking on the role of the zombie for the first time. Check out some screenshots of the calling cards after the break!

  • Corridor Digital Debut Their Live-Action DayZ Short Film

    • By NateRios 1/29/2013 10:00:19 PM
    • Category IconDayZ

Corridor Digital is known for their amazing work on YouTube, putting together some amazing short films including today's release; After DayZ. The short film is incredible and manages to capture the bleak atmosphere that we've come to love in DayZ.

When you step foot into Chernarus for the first time, there's nothing quite like it. The world, so vibrantly realized thanks to the ArmA engine, is stark and desolate. It won't take long for you to realize that you are well and truly alone in this world...or so it seems. Make your way to the nearest town and you'll quickly come in contact with mobs of soulless undead, shambling aimlessly across the barren streets. But in Chernarus, zombies are the least of your concern. The true threat lies in other players and whether or not you can trust them. Choose to put your faith in them and you might find yourself betrayed a mile down the road, all your weapons and loot stolen from your lifeless corpse.

You just never know, and it is this suspense and mistrust that Corridor Digital has managed to capture on film. The video is awesome, and we definitely recommend giving it a view at the top of this page. For more on DayZ, you can always visit the DayZ Wiki at http://www.dayzwiki.com/.

  • Dissecting Today's Black Ops 2 Patch & DLC Update

    • By DavidJeltemaIII 1/29/2013 7:54:18 PM
    • Category IconCall of Duty: Black Ops 2
    • 0

With the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 DLC Revolution released today for the Xbox 360, I wanted to touch upon some of the bigger patch notes that come with it. If you want to see a full list head on over to our forums.

I'd like to focus mostly on balance, it means the most to me and to how the game plays, so let’s jump right into it.

First up is a massive nerf to some of the more powerful scorestreaks in the game as well as a couple buffs to some others. These changes are varied and include:

    • Death Machine: 3 hit kill range increased.
    • Dragonfire: health increased, gun spread reduced.
    • AGR: ground speed increased, reduced machine gun close range damage.
    • Warthog: reduced missile delay.
    • Lodestar: reduced missile speed and AOE radius.
    • Swarm: drone re-spawn delay increased.

While I think this is a step in the right direction, I’m not sure it will be enough. I still really think that there should be some form of spawn protection against some of these but I can’t have everything I wish for, I guess.

What we do have is an increased delay between missiles on the Lodestar and an increased delay in drone respawn on the Swarm. This essentially means that they are less lethal. A step in the right direction but not nearly far enough in my mind. As far as buffs go, we have a few tweaks to the Death Machine, Dragonfire, AGR and Warthog. Small things to slightly improve their performance but nothing major.

Keep reading for more information on what today's patch entails, include some pretty big changes to sub-machine guns.
