  • Black Ops 2: Uprising Launches This Week, Here's What We're Getting

    • By NateRios 4/16/2013 8:01:22 AM

As you may or may not be aware, Treyarch is launching the second DLC expansion for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 this week and it's kind of a big deal.

We took a good look at Mob of the Dead last week and were rather impressed by what we found. The new Zombies map looks amazing, but now it's time to do the same with the rest of the content. The DLC goes by the name of Black Ops 2: Uprising and includes four brand new multiplayer maps as well as the aforementioned star-studded Zombies experience.

    Mob of the Dead

Here's the premise behind Mob of the Dead (in a nutshell): four Prohibition era mobsters are arrested, tried and sentenced to prison time in Alcatraz.

Here's where things get interesting, however. You see, Alcatraz is a dark place, but our four mobsters didn't realize exactly how dark.

Turns out Alcatraz is crawling with a mob of their own, a Mob of the Dead if you will.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, the mobsters are brought to life thanks to the vocal talents of Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Joe Pantoliano and Chazz Palminteri. Honestly, we could stop here and Black Ops 2: Uprising would already be worth the price tag but Treyarch didn't stop there, so we won't either.

  • How to Get 1999 Mode in BioShock Infinite Before Completing The Game

    • By NateRios 4/11/2013 9:11:09 PM
    • Category IconBioShock Infinite
    • 0

BioShock Infinite's super-challenging 1999 mode is normally only available upon completion of the games entire story mode, but we're here to tell you that there's another - much faster - way to make this happen.

    Here's how to do it:

      1. Head to the main menu in BioShock Infinite (it should look like this).
      2. Once there, enter the Konami Code - which is the following sequence of buttons:

      3. That's it! You should see a notification pop up - and an achivement unlock - telling you that 1999 Mode is now available.
      4. Die over and over as you attempt to play 1999 Mode.

If you have any questions or comments, post them up in the replies and we'll do our best to help you out. This method works on all platforms, so feel free to give it a shot today!

  • What's New in Black Ops 2's Mob of the Dead Zombies Map?

    • By NateRios 4/11/2013 7:25:18 PM
    • Category IconCall of Duty: Black Ops 2

When Treyarch announced the second DLC expansion Uprising for Black Ops 2, we had mixed feelings. On the one hand, the maps looked good and the Zombies experience seems unique but on the other, it was just the same old formula...again.

Activision has made it a habit to follow the tried and true formula with Black Ops DLC for both of these last two games; a handful of multiplayer maps and a new Zombies map.

    Lather, rinse and repeat.

With Black Ops 2, call us naive, but we were hoping for something new. Is that what we've been given with Uprising? Let's take a look at the latest trailer for Mob of the Dead, the new Zombies experience and see what's new.

You can see the trailer at the bottom of this post and follow along while we dissect this new look at the DLC.

  • Dishonored 'Knife of Dunwall' Gameplay Analysis

    • By NateRios 4/11/2013 5:27:10 PM
    • Category IconDishonored
    • 0

Bethesda and Arcane Studios have released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Dishonored: Knife of Dunwall DLC and it's got a lot of information packed into a pretty small amount of space. To help you dissect the new gameplay video, we're taking an in-depth look at what exactly Bethesda is showing us here.

The majority of the trailer focuses on the story that the Knife of Dunwall DLC is telling. The gameplay opens up on the rooftops in Dunwall, as Daud and his band of mercenaries known as The Whalers approach the location of the Empress. In Dishonored, of course, this is the location that you are standing with the Empress before Daud and the Whaler incapacitate you and slaughter the Empress.

Narrated by Daud, we hear the regret in his voice for his crimes, foreshadowing the journey for atonment that Knife of Dunwall will feature.

From here on out, most of these locations are new to Dishonored and will likely be the environments that Daud traverses in Knife of Dunwall. At around 0:55, we get our first glimpse of a new enemy. The weapon he wields appears at first glance to be a chain gun, but as you can see at 1:20 in the gameplay above, it actually has a circular blade attached to the end of it and looks to be pretty fierce.

  • BioShock Infinite: How Much Violence is Too Much Violence?

    • By NateRios 4/10/2013 7:33:11 PM
    • Category IconBioShock Infinite
    • 4

Violence in video games is without a doubt the biggest issue that our industry - and this genre in particular - faces at the moment. With horrifying tragedies of wanton gun violence cropping up in the headlines on a weekly basis, everyone needs a scapegoat. The finger of blame has to point somewhere, so why not at video games?

To make things more complicated, games are becoming increasingly more violent, it seems. While you do have games like ShootMania Storm that take a much milder approach to first-person combat, you also end up with games like BioShock Infinite, the subject of today's video. The violence in BioShock Infinite is not for the faint of heart, but is that necessarily a bad thing? Are violent video games to blame for these atrocities being committed every week around the world?

Or are they simply the easiest place to lay the blame?

Here to discuss the violence in BioShock Infinite, our own Devon 'Small Kiwi' McArthur. Let us know what you think about the situation in the comments. Remember, whichever side of the tracks you belong to, there's a valid argument to be had here. Let's do it respectfully.

  • ShootMania Storm Now Available Worldwide

    • By NateRios 4/10/2013 4:48:18 PM
    • Category IconShootMania Storm
    • 0

Just a heads up that Nadeo and Ubisoft have officially released ShootMania Storm into the wild, you can pick it up worldwide on Steam or at the official website.

If you're a fan of classic franchises like Quake or Unreal Tournament, ShootMania will be right up your alley. Fast-paced movement and skill-based shooting are the order of the day in ShootMania, allowing players to truly hone their skills on an even plane rather than being forced to use a certain weapon type because of a lack of balance. We have nothing against modern military shooters, but we won't lie and say that ShootMania isn't a breath of fresh air. The non-violent approach is done well and most importantly, ShootMania feels great and is fun to play.

What more could you ask for from a game?

Check out the launch trailer after the break and visit ShootMania Storm on Steam at http://store.steampowered.com/app/229870/.
