  • Bethesda Announces Wolfenstein: The New Order, Here's What You Can Expect

Bethesda Softworks announced this morning that they will be publishing a brand new entry into the Wolfenstein franchise. Oddly enough, this is one of the franchises that we proposed rebooting in our feature article yesterday. We can only assume that Bethesda read our post and instantly rebooted the franchise based on our suggestion. That being said, you're welcome everyone.

As for the game, it's going to be called Wolfenstein: The New Order. So what can you expect from the game?

At this time, we don't know much about The New Order but that will change in the coming weeks. What we do know, however, is what Wolfenstein games have been like in the past and that should give us an idea of what to expect with this upcoming title.

  • This is Everything That 'Knife of Dunwall' Adds to Dishonored

Bethesda released the latest DLC add-on for Dishonored this morning, in the Knife of Dunwall expansion.

We know that the content tells the story of Daud and his band of assassins known as The Whalers. While Corvo Attano got the blame for the death of the Empress in Dishonored, Daud is the man truly responsible for the crime. Daud is no stranger to assassinations but for some reason, the death of the Empress weighed more heavily on him than previous murders.

The story is fascinating, but what about the new gadgets and weapons that Daud is promised to be able to wield?

We spent some time with Knife of Dunwall today, and here is everything that the expansion brings to the table.

  • Dishonored 'Knife of Dunwall' Gameplay Analysis

    • By NateRios 4/11/2013 5:27:10 PM

    • 0

Bethesda and Arcane Studios have released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Dishonored: Knife of Dunwall DLC and it's got a lot of information packed into a pretty small amount of space. To help you dissect the new gameplay video, we're taking an in-depth look at what exactly Bethesda is showing us here.

The majority of the trailer focuses on the story that the Knife of Dunwall DLC is telling. The gameplay opens up on the rooftops in Dunwall, as Daud and his band of mercenaries known as The Whalers approach the location of the Empress. In Dishonored, of course, this is the location that you are standing with the Empress before Daud and the Whaler incapacitate you and slaughter the Empress.

Narrated by Daud, we hear the regret in his voice for his crimes, foreshadowing the journey for atonment that Knife of Dunwall will feature.

From here on out, most of these locations are new to Dishonored and will likely be the environments that Daud traverses in Knife of Dunwall. At around 0:55, we get our first glimpse of a new enemy. The weapon he wields appears at first glance to be a chain gun, but as you can see at 1:20 in the gameplay above, it actually has a circular blade attached to the end of it and looks to be pretty fierce.

  • Dishonored 'Knife of Dunwall' Interview, PAX East 2013

Curse's own Jess Brohard is on the scene at PAX East in Boston, MA rounding up as many developers and publishers as she can find to talk about some of the biggest games in the industry.

Right now, we're premiering Jess' interview with the good people working on Dishonored - one of our absolute favorites from 2012. Earlier this month, Bethesda announced the Knife of Dunwall DLC for Dishonored that would actually put players in the shoes of Daud, the legendary assassin responsible for the death of the Empress of Dunwall. After this heinous murder, Daud seeks atonement along with his band of killers known as The Whalers.

Knife of Dunwall includes all of Daud's own abilities, gadgets and weapons to bring a totally fresh face to Dishonored's already innovative gameplay.

Take a look at our interview above and make sure to stick with us all weekend for more PAX coverage!

  • Play as the Empress' Assassin in Dishonored's 'The Knife of Dunwall' DLC

    • By NateRios 3/13/2013 5:04:43 PM
    • Category IconDishonored
    • 0

Dishonored's next DLC is one of the most exciting premises for a piece of add-on content that we've seen in a long time.

If you haven't played it yet, two things: 1) go buy it now, because it was probably the best game of 2012 and, 2) here's a brief recap of the story (no spoilers): in Dishonored, you play as Corvo, a man who was charged with protecting the Empress of Dunwall. Ultimately, Corvo is overwhelmed by enemy assassins and the Empress is assassinated on the rooftops of of her palace in Dunwall.

Flash forward to 'The Knife of Dunwall' and you actually play as Daud, the ruthless assassin who is given the task of killing the Empress. Players have access to all of Daud's gadgets, weapons and abilities. Now Daud is seeking out atonement for his crimes and, along with The Whalers - his band of mercenary assassins - he is told to seek out someone, or something, called Delilah.

The Knife of Dunwall was previously rumored as being titled 'Other Side of the Coin' and is due to release on April 16th on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and will cost $9.99 (800MSP).

Check out some more images after the break!

  • Dishonored 'Other Side of the Coin' DLC Coming Soon?

    • By NateRios 2/25/2013 6:05:52 PM
    • Category IconDishonored
    • 0

According to the buzz on the street, Dishonored is going to be getting a brand new, story-driven DLC add-on in the coming months. The expansion is titled 'Other Side of the Coin' and expands on the main storyline of the game.

In a leak over on PS3Trophies.org, the rumored trophy list has been revealed for the upcoming DLC. If accurate, the DLC features 10 new trophies/achievements to nab. Be forewarned, however, that the following information will contain spoilers so read at your own risk if you haven't completely Dishonored or don't want to know what the Other Side of the Coin DLC is all about.

As suggested by the trophies, the Other Side of the Coin DLC takes players to the Rothwild Slaughterhouse, at the estate of a new character by the name of Thalia Timish. We're not sure of the exact details, but another character named Delilah Copperspoon also seems to play a key role in the content.

Bethesda hasn't commented on this leak yet, so stay tuned for more information from them on the legitimacy of these reports. If proven true, Bethesda will likely release a trailer or some screenshots from the DLC expansion in the coming days, along with an official statement on what the story entails.

Note: the screenshot used at the top of this article is from the core game in Dishonored, not from the upcoming Other Side of the Coin DLC.

Dust off your skull mask, Bethesda Softworks has released the first DLC add-on for Dishonored in Dunwall City Trials. The new content lets players take on a gauntlet of 10 brand new missions that will test your skills in assassinations, supernatural power usage and how effective you can use your gadgets and weapons.

Players will have to use all of their cunning, stealth, mobility and combat skills to complete these 10 challenge missions. As with everything in Dishonored, the choice of how you complete these missions is up to you. If you want to go stealthy and string together drop assassinations and Blink, then go right ahead. If you prefer to load up and massacre your way through each mission, the option is there. This is what made Dishonored one of the best games of 2012; the freedom and ability to choose how you want to play the game, with no restrictions or requirements imposed by Arkane Studios.

Dunwall City Trials also features a fresh set of achievements and trophies for you hunters out there, as well as a global online leaderboard to compare your performance with other players around the world.

  • Dishonored Dunwall City Trials DLC Available December 11th, Screenshots Released

    • By NateRios 11/27/2012 4:42:27 PM

Bethesda Softworks has released some fresh details on the Dunwall City Trials DLC that will be heading to Dishonored next month, including our first look at some screenshots from the content update.

In Dishonored, you take on the role of Corvo, an assassin with some intense supernatural abilities. It is these abilities that make Dishonored such a flexible, amazing game. Play each mission as stealthily as you can, if you want, using your abilities to traverse the rooftops above and out of sight. If that's not your style, go loud with your weapons and abilities like Devouring Swarm which calls upon a horde of rats to kill and consume your targets. The choice is completely yours as to how you want to play Dishonored, from varying routes to completely disparate playstyles.

Dunwall City Trials delivers 10 unique challenge maps that will make use of Corvo's supernatural abilities in combat, stealth and mobility. Some maps have you fighting off waves of Tallboys or taking out as many enemies as possible, using your weapons, gadgets and abilities. All of these new missions have one common theme; play them your way, however you best deal with the current situation. Have you mastered the drop assassination? Then Blink your way across the upper levels of these maps, taking out enemies as you go at your discretion. The choice is always yours.

We have some screenshots of Dunwall City Trials at the bottom of this post. The content arrives in Dishonored on all platforms on December 11th, for $4.99 (400 MSP).

  • Official Dishonored Community Kills Video Released

    • By NateRios 11/15/2012 5:50:06 PM

Last month, Bethesda put out the call to arms for Dishonored players, requesting their best piece of game footage to be used in a future compilation.

The community responded and Bethesda has released 'Killer Moves', the official community compilation video for Dishonored. The video is awesome, and features some amazing kills, supernatural power combos and some lethal stealth action. These are truly the best of the best and show you how flexible Dishonored is - something that we have absolutely been loving about the game since it came out.

If you want to go wild in Dishonored and rush through a mission with your pistol blazing and sword slashing, you can do it. You won't have an easy time of it, but it's possible. Alternatively, if you want to ignore the supernatural powers, go right ahead. Nothing in the game requires you to do anything one particular way and most missions have multiple paths to arrive at the same location, giving you complete flexibility as to how you want to play Dishonored.

Check out the video above to see some of the best community clips in action and visit http://www.dishonored.com/ for more information on the game!

  • Here's Your Chance to Win a Real-Life Sokolov Painting from Dishonored

    • By NateRios 10/26/2012 7:21:30 PM
    • Category IconDishonored
    • 0

Bethesda Softworks has launched a Dishonored-themed contest with just about the best prize ever; an actual Sokolov painting (pictured above)!

These paintings were created for PAX East, and are modeled after paintings found in the game by the iconic physician, chemist, painter and all-around drunkard, Anton Sokolov. In Dishonored, dedicated players can collect Sokolov paintings in each mission for some serious cash rewards and, more importantly, paintings are required for 100% completion of missions.

Winning the Sokolov painting is going to take some doing, however. Bethesda is looking for 60-second video clips from your exploits in Dishonored, whether it be your greatest feat of lethality or stealth or just some good old fashioned creativity with the superpowers. Clips must be 60 seconds or less, 720p quality, direct feed and preference will be given to those with music disabled.

Whatever you submit, it has to make the cut and be better than everything else submitted to win the framed Sokolov. Official rules and details can be found at http://www.bethblog.com/. FPS General would like to issue a standing offer of 300 coins (denomination of our choosing) to whomever wins the framed painting.

The contest wraps up on October 31st, so start thinking about what you're going to do for your clip because time is already running short.

  • Bethesda Reveals Plans for Dishonored DLC Expansions

    • By NateRios 10/25/2012 4:58:21 PM

    • 1

Ever since we fired up Dishonored for the first time and saw that gleaming 'DLC' section of the main menu, we've been curious what Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks would have up their sleeves for the game's add-on content. We were more than content to explore the game's core offerings to start with but now that we've spent a wealth of time in this amazing game world, we were beginning to get curious again. What would that new content feature?

New powers? New areas of Dunwall to explore? New missions? As things would have it, the answer is 'all of the above'.

Bethesda Softworks has revealed plans for the first two of three scheduled DLC add-ons for Dishonored. The first DLC add-on, Dunwall City Trials, doesn't actually expand on the singleplayer story, but rather introduces a series of challenges that players can carry out, challenging their abilities as a supernatural assassin.

Dunwall City Trials, being released in December for $4.99 (or 400 Microsoft Points), will include 10 challenge maps that will test and track your combat, stealth and mobility skills. Ten distinct trials await challengers – including an arena battle against waves of enemy AI, a gravity-defying run of drop assassinations, and a race against the clock. Dunwall City Trials also features a whole new set of achievements and trophies as well as a global online leaderboard that will establish the greatest assassins for each challenge.

The second add-on hasn't been fully revealed yet, but Bethesda gave us a little information. So far, we know that it is an expansion of the singleplayer storyline and follows the story of Daud, the leader of a group of supernatural killers known as 'The Whalers'. This expansion will feature new locations on Dunwall as well as access to Daud's personal arsenal of weapons, supernatural powers (!) and gadgets.

Bethesda and Arkane will reveal more information and pricing on the second two updates as they get closer to the 2013 release dates for that content.

Bethesda Softworks released a brand new version of a classic today, in DOOM 3 BFG Edition. This is the definitive version of DOOM 3 so if you haven't played it before, this is the best chance you'll have to get into the game.

id Software's DOOM franchise was a pioneer in our beloved first-person shooter genre and without it, the Call of Duty's and Battlefield's of the world wouldn't exist. Now, with the BFG Edition of DOOM 3, a brand new generation of gamers will be able to enjoy DOOM 3 as never before.

DOOM 3 BFG Edition includes DOOM 3 and two add-on packs; Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission. This is the entire original game plus hours of fresh content, as The Lost Mission is completely new to DOOM 3. All of this content has been upgraded from past games with enhanced visuals, a brand new checkpoint system for saving your progress, trophies/achievements and can be enjoyed in 5.1 surround sound and 3D, should your system support it.

As if this content wasn't enough, Bethesda is also bundling DOOM and DOOM 2 inside of DOOM 3 BFG Edition. This rounds the package out to 3 complete games - all classics in FPS gaming - for just $39.99. How do you beat that?

You don't! So get out there and buy it today.

  • Check Out Our First Dishonored Speedrun, The Golden Cat

    • By NateRios 10/10/2012 10:39:13 PM
    • Category IconDishonored
    • 0

With Dishonored hitting shelves this past week, we've been spending a ton of time in the game, exploring and carrying out missions. One thing we love about Dishonored is that there are so many ways to play the game. Yes, it is primarily a stealth game, but you're not restricted to playing the game that way although it is clearly designed with that play style in mind.

Some people, however, prefer to try their hand at speedrunning portions of the game. Take, for example, our very own Nickoli. He has put together a very impressive speedrun of the Golden Cat mission from Dishonored, one of the earlier missions in the game.

    Be forewarned!

If you haven't played Dishonored, this video does contain some minor spoilers. Bethesda and Arkane Studios have been showing off this mission for months, so it's not really anything new if you've been watching trailers for the game for more than a few months. Just the same, if you're looking to experience the game totally for yourself, you may want to give this one a pass until you've beaten the mission in-game.

If spoilers aren't your concern, check out the speedrun above!

Bethesda Softworks has officially released the highly-anticipated first-person stealth game from Arkane Studios, Dishonored.

If you find yourself in North America, the game is available anywhere video games are sold. To our friends in Europe, Dishonored will launch on October 12th (October 11th in Australia). Here with a ready made pull quote is Arkane Studios President and Creative Director on Dishonored, Raphael Colantino:

    Raph Colantino

“We wanted to create a very physical first-person action game that encourages players to play the way they want by providing them with versatile game systems” said Raphael Colantonio, President, Arkane Studios. “We’ve watched gamers play Dishonored at consumer events and we've seen some amazing gameplay choices and power combinations. We’re very proud of our development team’s final product, and excited to see the game in the hands of gamers.”

We've been lucky enough to spend some time with Dishonored over the past week, so make sure you stay tuned later today for our full write-up on the game.

If you're just looking for the short of it, however, we'll say that Dishonored may very well be the best game released in 2012 and you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don't pick it up at once.

  • Choose Your Own Revenge in Dishonored's Latest Interactive Trailer

    • By NateRios 10/4/2012 6:38:35 PM
    • Category IconDishonored
    • 0

    Dishonored
is due out next week and what better way to get prepared than an interactive trailer? It's almost like you're playing the game for real!

Bethesda has released interactive trailers for Dishonored in the past and we really love seeing the options that players will have when controlling Corvo, the supernatural assassin in the game. Corvo has a wealth of abilities, weapons and tactics at his disposal and it is entirely up to you, the player, as to how you want to play Dishonored.

While some stealth games simply cause the mission to end when you're spotted by the enemy, Dishonored simply gets a little more difficult. Corvo cannot take unlimited damage so if you get spotted, you're going to be hard pressed to take out your enemies while trying to keep some semblance of stealth in your mission. When one enemy is alerted, he will promptly alert his allies and you'll soon find yourself overwhelmed.

You can watch the trailer above, but with all of the interactivity options, it might be best to simply fire it up on Bethesda Softworks' YouTube channel directly.

In the first two episodes of Bethesda Softworks' Dishonored-themed web series, we learned a bit about Dunwall and the type of environment that players will be exploring when Dishonored releases next month. In this episodes of 'The Tales from Dunwall', we get a chance to meet a new character.

Piero is an important figure in the city of Dunwall and plays an important role in the life of Corvo, the protagonist and player character in Dishonored. We don't know exactly what Piero's role is going to be in the game, but you can get to know the character a little better in the final installment of 'The Tales from Dunwall', entitled 'In The Mind of Madness'.

What do you think of 'The Tales from Dunwall'? We've really enjoyed the art style and direction that Pysop took with these shorts. Something about the style seems very reminiscent of the stark world that is Dunwall. Let us know what you think in the replies.

Bethesda Softworks released the first episode of their three-part Dishonored-themed web series entitled 'The Tales of Dunwall' yesterday morning, debuting the series with 'The Awakening'. Following right on the heels of that episode, Bethesda has released 'The Hand That Feeds', the second part in The Tales of Dunwall.

The Awakening illustrated how Dunwall - the city featured in Dishonored - was revolutionized by a new energy source. The Hand That Feeds, however, is "a cautionary tale - one that illustrates the advantages, and the dangerous disadvantages, of accepting supernatural abilities from The Outsider."

These episodes were designed by Pysop, working side by side with Bethesda Softworks to ensure accuracy to the story and game world. We love the art style and direction these episodes are taking and we can't wait to see episode 3, which will presumably be released tomorrow based on the back-to-back releases of the first two episodes.

Dishonored hits shelves in just under two weeks on October 9th, 2012 in North America and October 12th in Europe.
