• Crysis 3 Official Gameplay Trailer, E3 2012

    One of our most anticipated shooters at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo is Crysis 3 and we're pleased to say that Crytek and EA have not let us down. 

    Crysis 3 rounded off the EA press event from E3 2012 in fine form, with a live gameplay demo that showed off some of Prophet's new gadgets and weapons as well as some returning favorites. Both the Stealth and Maximum Armor Nanosuit modules are returning to Crysis 3, although we're not sure if they function the same as in Crysis 2 or if there are some differences.

    We got a good look at Prophet's crossbow and pretty much settled on Crysis 3 being incredible when Prophet used it to fire a bolt through the windshield of an attacking helicopter, mangling the pilot within and sending the chopper to its demise.

  • EA Debuts Brand New Medal of Honor: Warfighter Trailer at E3

    Electronic Arts just wrapped up their showing at E3 2012 with a strong showing from Crytek and Crysis 3 but earlier on in the afternoon, Danger Close was on hand showing off Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

    Alongside the live gameplay demo, Danger Close and EA have released a brand new trailer for the game's multiplayer component. Set to the gentle melodies of Linkin Park, the trailer shows off the Global Warfighter concept behind competitive multiplayer.

    The idea here is that factions from all around the world will be represented in multiplayer combat...

  • PlayStation 3 Users: Sign Up For Battlefield Premium, Play Close Quarters DLC Today

    Patrick Bach, Executive Producer at EA DICE took to the stage at E3 2012 just minutes ago to make some pretty exciting Battlefield 3 announcements - some new, and some that we'd previously reported.

    First off, he announced that Battlefield 3 Premium is available now on all platforms. This is something that we reported earlier this morning, but it's always great to hear it from the developers mouths directly. On top of that, Bach announced a few details regarding Endgame and Aftermath - the last two DLC expansions that Battlefield 3 will get later this year...

  • Dead Space 3 Officially Unveiled by Electronic Arts at E3 2012

    Electronic Arts kicked off their E3 2012 press event with the official confirmation of Dead Space 3!

    This is a game we've been looking forward to since hearing rumors back in April of this year. The game once agains puts players in the boots of Isaac Clarke, but this time he's heading to a snowbound planet with hopes of finally eradicating the Necromorph forces once and for all. Joining Clarke is a new character by the name of John Carver. Carver is a merciless soldier who will be the player character of Player Two in Dead Space 3's co-op mode, which we saw a bit of at EA's press event...

  • Mark Lamia Guides Us Through The 12-Minute Black Ops 2 Gameplay Demo

    Mark Lamia, Studio Head at Treyarch, has offered up some awesome insight to the nearly 12-minute Black Ops 2 gameplay demo that he unveiled on-stage at E3 2012 earlier this morning.

    Over at IGN, they've got the exclusive video, which you can find embedded above. The demo looks amazing, bringing both new gameplay aspects as well as classic Call of Duty action. Something that stood out to us was the element of player choice early on in the actual gameplay portion of the demo. Approaching a damaged overpass, the player has the choice of rappelling down and fighting the firefight on the ground or staying up top and playing overwatch with a sniper rifle.

    At Microsoft's press conference, Lamia opted to snipe from above but in the gameplay playthrough above, he goes for rappelling down and fighting with his assault rifle.

    Hot off the presses from Microsoft's E3 2012 press event, we bring you the world's first official trailer for Gears of War: Judgement.

    Some familiar faces return in Gears of War: Judgement as well as some new faces. The confirmed characters include: Augustus 'Cole Train' Cole, Damon Baird, Garron Paduk and Sophia Hendricks. The game looks amazing and we're particularly excited about the multiplayer OverRun game mode which looks as innovative and exciting as Horde mode was back in 2008.

  • Splinter Cell: Blacklist E3 2012 Gameplay Demonstration

    Earlier this morning at Microsoft's E3 2012 press conference, Ubisoft Toronto took the stage to unveil Splinter Cell: Blacklist, a brand new adventure in Tom Clancy's classic franchise.

    Splinter Cell: Blacklist once again follows protagonist Sam Fisher, but this time he's heading to the Middle East. The gameplay looked incredible and the trailer just as much so. What's more, Splinter Cell: Blacklist will see the return of the awesome Spies vs Mercenaries game mode that the last Splinter Cell title opted to not include.

  • Xbox 360 Getting Black Ops 2 DLC First, Exclusivity Deal Continues

    Whether or not you view this as good news or bad depends largely upon which console is sitting in your entertainment center right now. But, for better or worse, Microsoft announced today that the DLC exclusivity deal with Activision will indeed cover the next iteration of Call of Duty, Black Ops 2.

    If you're just joining us in the Call of Duty world or if you're not sure what we're talking about, here's the scoop. Microsoft and Activision struck a deal back when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was launching. All of the DLC released for that game - and subsequent Call of Duty games - would arrive on Xbox 360 first. After a period of exclusivity, the DLC would be released on PlayStation 3 and PC. If you play Call of Duty on your Xbox 360, then chances are this never really bothered you but for a smaller, yet no less vocal, group of players, this isn't the ideal situation to be in.

    Either way you slice it, the timed exclusivity deal continues and all of Black Ops 2's DLC will be released on Xbox Live before seeing the light of day on other platforms.

    Electronic Arts is taking the stage at 1:00PM PT to show off a whole slew of games, including three of our most anticipated shooters of E3 2012; Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Crysis 3 and Battlefield 3.

    With regards to Crysis 3 and Medal of Honor: Warfighter, we can't wait to see some brand new footage of the games and learn more about the enemies we'll be facing and the environments we'll be traveling to. We know a bit about both games, so be sure to check out their respective hubs at:

    As for Battlefield 3, we're definitely excited to get a glimpse of Armored Kill, the vehicle-based DLC that will be launching later this year. Close Quarters is just a few days away, as well, so we can't wait to learn more about that and Battlefield Premium, the subscription-service that was unveiled this morning.

  • Halo 4 Official E3 2012 Trailer, Plus Gameplay Footage!

    Microsoft hit the ground running at their E3 2012 press event this morning, kicking things off in style with some brand new Halo 4 footage.

    First up, embedded above, is the incredible live-action trailer dubbed, "The Commissioning". This trailer shows the enthusiasm and honor at the launch of the UNSC Infinity as well as its ultimate crash and demise as "an ancient evil pulls it into a mysterious world where the Master Chief will begin an epic new Halo adventure." The trailer is epic and represents everything we've come to love about the Halo world for all these years.

    Picking up where the trailer above leaves off, we get some exciting footage of Halo 4's campaign, which you can see for yourself after the break...

  • Gears of War: Judgement's OverRun Mode Revealed

    Gears of War: Judgement was unveiled just earlier this morning, and now one of the upcoming third-person shooters game modes has been revealed; OverRun Mode.

    OverRun is a totally unique game mode that we can't wait to check out in person. OverRun matches consist of two rounds, giving both teams a chance to play Defense (COG) and Offense (Locust). When attacking as Locust, teams must attack and destroy the COG Generator. To do so, however, you'll have to breach two Emergence Holes, one after another in succession. Successfully breaching an Emergence Hole adds more time to the clock and moves the battle to a different area on the map - much in the way that Rush mode works in Battlefield.

    Playing as COG, of course, you'll be tasked with defending your objectives from the Locust attackers. 

    OverRun plays heavily on teamwork, with COG classes being able to work together very fluidly. Different classes can offer different support items for their teammates, ranging from sensors to health and ammo. In most shooters, however, you need to be close to your teammate to offer those support items but in Gears of War: Judgement, you are actually able to throw them in the same fashion that you would a grenade...

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Officially Launching in August, Priced at $15

    Valve Software has announced that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will officially launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on August 21st.

    The game is set to be priced at aroud $15 on all platforms and will feature more character, weapons, maps and content than is currently available in Global Offensive's beta. In keeping with their tradition of being amazing, Valve is introducing cross-platform play into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. While no specific details are being released at this time, we are reminded of the PC-PlayStation 3 compatibility in Portal 2.

    In that game, players on PlayStation Network were able to connect with players using Steam on PC to play Portal 2 cooperatively. We're assuming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will harness that same technology, although whether it will be exclusive to PlayStation 3 remains to be seen.

  • Gears of War: Judgement Unveiled at E3 2012

    We were promised a brand new Gears of War game and, true to their word, Microsoft Game Studios has delivered.

    Gears of War: Judgement is the next entry into this iconic franchise and Game Informer has the exclusive on some coverage of the game, as well as interviews with the folks at People Can Fly - the studio working on the release. We don't know much about Gears of War: Judgement, yet, outside of the 2013 launch date. We do know two characters who will be in Gears of War: Judgement, however, and they are Augustus 'Cole Train' Cole and Damon Baird.

  • Splinter Cell: Blacklist Announced at Microsoft's E3 2012 Event

    Microsoft just spilled the beans on Ubisoft Toronto's latest project, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and the game looks incredible.

    Sam Fisher is back once again in this installment of Splinter Cell. Ubisoft Toronto was on hand at Microsoft's press event to show off the game and share a few details. Some of the stand-out features we noted, include:

    • Incredibly fluid combat system, Sam is able to take down multiple enemies using various game mechanics.
    • There looks to be a mechanic in place similar to Max Payne's iconic Bullet Time feature.
    • The graphics looked great and reminiscent of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, another Tom Clancy title.
    • Kinect voice integration looked great and nicely implemented.
    • Sliding over cover looks too satisfying for words.
    • Spies vs Mercenaries, which was not included in Splinter Cell: Conviction, will make a return.
    • Blacklist features single-player, co-op and the aforementioned Spies vs Mercenaries.

  • Battlefield 3 Premium Details Confirmed, Available Today

    EA DICE is on hand at E3 in Los Angeles, and the news is already rolling out from the event. Battlefield 3's Premium service has been confirmed and details are pretty much on line with what we reported last week.

    Battlefield 3's latest update has gone out and with it, the options for both Premium and Close Quarters DLC although neither service is officially available as of this time. Close Quarters DLC is expected to be made available on June 6th and includes four new maps; Ziba Tower, Donya Fortress, Operation 925 and Scrapmetal, plus all of the additional content.

    Premium, on the other hand, is expected to go live today and will set you back a one-time fee of $50. As previously discussed, Premium includes...

  • Bulletstorm Developer Involved in New Gears of War Release

    People Can Fly, the studio who produced 2011's first-person shooter Bulletstorm, have been confirmed to be working on the upcoming Gears of War game that was just semi-announced yesterday.

    After speculation broke out last night as to whether People Can Fly may be involved in this mysterious new Gears of War release, Mike Capps, President of Epic Games, jumped into the discussion and confirmed it. When Kotaku's Stephen Totilo asked, "Do I detect People Can Fly involvement?", Capps jumped in with a very clear, "YES YES YES!".

    It doesn't get any clearer than that, folks...

  • Trion Worlds Releases E3 Trailer For Defiance


    Trion Worlds has released the official E3 trailer for their upcoming third-person shooter, tv show hybrid Defiance and the game is still looking as exciting and ambitious as ever.

    Trion Worlds has been relatively quiet in regards to Defiance for the past few months, so if you're unfamiliar with the game, here's a bit of backstory on why you should be excited. Defiance is not just an ambitious game, it's also a science fiction show that will be broadcast on SyFy Channel. The tv program will serve to bring more depth and immersion to the story as you not only come to understand the narrative, but become familiar with the game world and characters that both properties will share.

    As for the game itself, Defiance is a third-person shooter with the persistent game world found in MMO's. Think of it as something similar to PlanetSide 2 or Tribes: Ascend with their massively multiplayer FPS genre, except that the camera is pulled back over the shoulder and the story is given greater life thanks to the SyFy experience.

  • DICE Bringing Close Quarters & Armored Kill DLC To E3

    Battlefield 3 developer DICE has announced that they will be bringing two of the three DLC expansions for the game to E3 this year, and they will be playable!

    The first DLC is one that we know quite a bit about - Close Quarters. This expansion is due out in just a couple weeks, perhaps sooner if rumors are to be believed. This expansion brings the combat in and does away with the broad, sprawling maps that Battlefield fans have become accustomed to. The combat on these maps will be much tighter than players are used to so be prepared to adjust your play style.

    Armored Kill is the second DLC expansion that the studio is bringing with them to E3, and while we don't know much about it, we know that it will be heavily vehicle-based.

  • New Gears of War Game Being Unveiled Monday, June 4th

    We're just a few short days away from E3 in Los Angeles, CA - the biggest gaming event of the year - and news is already starting to trickle out.

    Game Informer has announced that they have a whole slew of information standing by on the next Gears of War release, scheduled to be unveiled on Monday, June 4th. Microsoft will be holding their E3 presentation on that day, while Game Informer will be going live with a ton of information on the next Gears of War game. We know that Epic Games intended to have Gears of War 3 serve as the finale in the trilogy of games that told the story of Marcus Fenix, so perhaps this game will be a spinoff on that story?
