• Firefall Gets Built-In Twitch Streaming Integration

    Red 5 Studios announced this morning that they have officially integrated Twitch.tv live-streaming into Firefall, removing the need for additional software. All you need to stream Firefall to your Twitch channel is included right in the game client.

    Speaking to Venture Beat, Red 5 Studios VP of Development James Macauley said:

    “We’re very excited to have Twitch broadcasting integrated into Firefall. By allowing players to stream from directly within the game, we’re expanding its online footprint and creating a whole new discovery mechanism.

    This, along with our revolutionary e-sports toolkit, provides our community with the technology they need to produce professional broadcasts of Firefall’s elite competitive gameplay."

  • Show Off Your Firefall Skills and Win Big From Red 5 Studios

    Red 5 Studios has announced an awesome competition for this weekend's upcoming Firefall beta weekend, giving players a chance to show off their skills on the battlefield for a chance to win one of two Firefall prize bundles, including a Razer 2013 Deathadder and Goliathus mousemat as well as Red 5 Studios and Firefall memorabilia, not the least of which is the brand new Brontondon plushies.

    The team will be doing three open beta stress tests for Firefall, but the Skillshot contest is just running this weekend. The competition starts alongside the upcoming beta weekend, on January 25th and through the 27th, giving players a chance to explore the riveting world of Firefall. The game takes place on Earth, two hundred years in the future.

    As mankind strives to harness the clean energy of Crystite, a horrific energy storm engulfs most of the planet, destroying much of the planet's life and resources. As the humans struggle to rebuild, a mysterious faction known as The Chosen emerges to destroy those who remain.

    Firefall is a free-to-play, massively multiplayer shooter but not in any way lacking the features of any other MMOFPS on the market. Players have access to customization, crafting, PvP, PvE and so much more in a massive, open environment. Plus, jetpacks.

    Okay, now back to those epic Firefall prize packs. Red 5 Studios is asking for video clips - 90 seconds or less - showing off your most impressive skillshots and other feats of prowess on the Firefall battlefield.

    A couple things to note: make sure that you do not use copyrighted music in your video and when you're all finished, publish it to YouTube and share it on the Firefall forums (or in response to this video on Red 5's YouTube channel, Stage 5 TV). The guys can't look at your video unless you follow these guidelines so stick to 'em!

    If you're no great shakes at producing videos, you can also capture a screenshot of one of your greatest exploits in Firefall for a chance to be featured on the official Firefall Facebook page.

    FPS General and Curse are teaming up with Red 5 Studios to dish out beta keys for the upcoming Firefall beta weekend, which gets underway today. 

    Firefall is a great MMOFPS from Red 5 Studios that we've been playing in beta for a while. Unlike other games in the genre, Firefall features both in-depth PvP gameplay as well as a full, singleplayer or cooperative story.

    In Firefall:

    A starship disaster unleashes a titanic energy storm called the Melding. It envelopes the earth, wipes out most of the planet, and spawns hostile creatures who self-proclaim themselves the Chosen.

    Players must band together. Uniting in the form of armies, players will need to collect resources to craft weapons and vehicles to fight back the apocalyptic threat of the Chosen invasion. Special Nano-technology suits of armor called Battleframes enhance the human race in this future Earth and allow players to jumpjet across battlefields, wield a variety of exotic weapons of heavy destruction, and employ special abilities to reclaim the world.

  • Red 5 Studios Goes All Out This Halloween in Firefall

    We've seen more than our fair share of Halloween promotions in the world of first-person shooters, from The War Z to Offensive Combat. But Red 5 Studios may be about to take the cake with their Halloween festivities in Firefall.

    To start things off, Firefall's latest update marks the beginning of the 'Night of Melding'. The Halloween-themed festival might be called the Night of Melding, but it actually is set to last a fortnight;  that's 14 days for any of you not born in the 19th century. The festivities will include a ton of exclusive content that won't be available after the event is over, including:

    Limited edition Halloween-themed items including animated tombstones, invisibility-granting bat-bombs, skull and witch hats along with many other collectibles. The festivities are just getting started and will run until Nov 14.

    The fun doesn't stop there, however, as Red 5 is taking things to a whole new level with two short films, released through their digital production brand Stage 5 TV. These short films are Halloween-themed and don't necessarily reside in the world of Firefall.

    The first short film is called 'So Pretty', in which a fan of Twilight discovers that vampires are slightly more than sparkly baseball players. The second film released is 'The Green Ruby Pumpkin' and features 'a surreal Halloween tale featuring stunning visual FX and animation.' Both of these awesome short films are available at Stage 5 TV's channel on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/stage5.

  • Inaugural Firefall Fest Starts Today, Streaming All Week

    Red 5 Studios is kicking off Firefall Fest this morning, a week-long event, celebrating all-things Firefall with giveaways, celebrity appearances, never-before-seen Firefall content and, of course, plenty of Firefall gaming.

    Notable attendees include Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, Athene, Team Unicorn, Mega 64, Day[9], Household Hacker; Nathan Fillion and Alison Haislip among many, many more. The event is kicking off today and will continue all week, wrapping up on Friday, October 26th. During this time, Red 5 Studios is going to be dishing out prizes from event sponsors AMD and Razer.

  • Firefall Coming to PAX Prime, Showing Off In-Game Store

    Red 5 Studios is bringing Firefall to PAX Prime later this week and have big plans to show off the game, offer playable demos and give some insight on the recently-launched in-game store.

    To start with, Red 5 Studios will be bringing their Firefall Mobile Gaming Unit, which features '20 AMD powered gaming stations, Razer peripherals, support for 1,000 person LAN parties and livestreaming capabilities with full shoutcaster support.' This will be located outside the convention center in Seattle, for folks wanting to get some hands on with Firefall.

    The team is hoping to show off a bit of what they're putting together with the in-game store in Firefall, as well. The recently launched store gives players a chance to buy unique and fun items by converting real-life currency to in-game currency.

  • Red 5 Studios Releases Biggest Firefall Patch To Date

    Red 5 Studios has released a huge patch for their MMOFPS, Firefall, introducing so many features and implementing so many changes that the changelog is going to be a nightmare to share with you guys, but we'll try our best.

    The official changelog reads:

    • Changed everything.
    • Created fun.
    Specifically speaking, Firefall players are going to notice a massive amount of changes including a new progession system, new abilities, improved combat system, better crafting system and an even more massive game world. There's a pretty big handful of further changes, but for that, we present you the video above - released a couple days ago.

  • Red 5 Studios Showing Off Updated Firefall at Gamescom

    Red 5 Studios has announced that they will be bringing Firefall to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany next month but not the version of the game that many are playing in closed beta.

    The studio is going to be bringing an updated version of Firefall, with a ton of new features and enhancements that make the game even more exciting, hoping to impress the crowd at Gamescom. Listed in the press release, some of the updates features include, 'new tier-based character progression, a new resource mining and crafting system, the new Garage and customizable loadout system, the ground-breaking Firefall eSports toolkit, and the latest open world and PvP content that includes new areas and dynamic events.'

    In addition to the updated version of the game, Red 5 Studios has teamed up with the Electronic Sports League (ESL) to host a Firefall beta tournament, with 10k Euros in prize money being offered up.

  • Red 5 Studios Releases Minimum and Recommended System Specs for Firefall

    Red 5 Studios has released the minimum and recommended system specifications for their upcoming MMOFPS Firefall. The game is currently in closed beta, and just celebrated over 500,000 registered members.

    As the beta begins to expand and let more players in, Red 5 wants to let folks know the type of system they will need to be running in order to enjoy Firefall. The specs are not demanding and we think most PC players will be able to get in on the game, so long as they are invited into beta. Minimum System Specs are:

    • OS: Windows XP (32/64-bit)
    • PROCESSOR (AMD): Dual Core @ 2.6 Ghz (Athon 64 x2, Athlon II x2, Phenom II x2)
