Monolith announced this morning, during PAX Prime, that their excellent first-person shooter, Gotham City Impostors, is going free to play! This won't come as a surprise for PlayStation Plus subscribers, who have had free access to the game for around a month now but PC players who have been on the fence, can now grab the game for free on Steam.

If you haven't played Gotham City Impostors, we can't recommend it enough. This is a shooter that has gone largely unnoticed by the community at large and it's a shame, because the mechanics are solid and the gameplay is actually unique. Monolith is doing something that virtually no other developer has the courage to do, which is innovate and introduce truly new concepts and mechanics.

The premise of the game is that Gotham City has been overrun with vigilante heroes and criminals, modeling themselves after The Joker and Batman. These two factions are battling it out for power in Gotham City, using an amazing arsenal of homebrewed weaponry. The weapons in Gotham City Impostors are some of the most original and enjoyable that we've used in a first-person shooter.

Gotham City Impostors, if you haven't played it, is a fun and well balanced first-person shooter set in DC Comics' Batman universe. The premise of the multiplayer-only game is that Gotham City has been overrun by vigilantes hoping to carve a name for themselves by impersonating The Joker and Batman. The Jokerz face off against the Bats in classic FPS game modes on a handful of multiplayer maps.

The real beauty of the game comes from all of the homebrewed weapons, gadgets and equipment. Monolith really just let their creative forces loose on Gotham City Impostors, so be ready for Body Odor Sniffer weapon attachments and questionably rigged Glider Suits.

PlayStation Network's Summer Sale isn't exactly the Summer Sale that we were looking forward to but as it turns out, there are actually a ton of really good shooters in PlayStation Network's promo.

Monolith has announced a brand new DLC pack for their popular multiplayer only shooter, Gotham City Impostors, entitled The Steamy Punk Pack.

This DLC offering takes on a Steampunk theme, as you may have guessed, and includes:

• Steampunk costume.

WB Games and Monolith have announced that their first-person shooter Gotham City Impostors will be getting a free content update that will bring a new game mode, a new map and more customization options!

The new game mode is called Bounty Hunter and if you've played Modern Warfare 3, you'll instantly recognize Kill Confirmed as the inspiration behind this game mode. In Bounty Hunter, when players are killed they drop a coin which is their bounty. Players must collect that bounty, but if you happen to notice a friendly get killed you can pick up his bounty and deny the opposing team that point. In other words, when you kill an enemy player, you have to confirm...their kill....
