Earlier this week, U4iA Games went live with some brand new content for their free-to-play shooter, Offensive Combat. The content is geared towards the upcoming Halloween holiday, with new costumes, new weapons and a brand new map to fight on.

In the video above, Chris Archer and Jeremy Dunham of U4iA Games are joined by Sabrina Phillips, their "one-woman Animation Department". Sabrina discusses the creation of the brand new Halloween content and shares some concept designs and behind-the-scenes insight.

If you're playing Offensive Combat, there is no patch to download or any of that business. The content is live and ready to go right now, just visit the launcher page at http://www.offensivecombat.com/ and get playing!

  • Check Out Offensive Combat's Open Beta Trailer

U4iA Games launched their free to play shooter, Offensive Combat, into open beta last week with a batch of fresh new content for the game. When it comes to free to play, straightforward first-person shooters, it doesn't get much better than Offensive Combat.

As evidenced in the trailer above, Offensive Combat takes a lighter-hearted approach to shooters than most other games these days, and it really is a breath of fresh air. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, but the mechanics are solid and the gameplay enjoyable.

When you're being teabagged by a monocle-wearing man in a banana suit, you'll understand the concept.

Check out the latest trailer for Offensive Combat and join the open beta at http://www.offensivecombat.com/!

  • U4iA Games Launches Offensive Combat into Open Beta

U4iA Games has officially launched their free to play, browser-based first-person shooter, Offensive Combat, into open beta testing.

The game has spent a solid few months in closed beta and we've really been enjoying it. Offensive Combat is a lot of fun and, for what you're paying (which is nothing), it's a bargain. The one real downfall is that we'd like more maps to play on. With less than a half dozen maps that appear to be in rotation, sometimes they feel a bit stale.

We had a chance to look at Offensive Combat at a press event last June, and you can read our first impressions with the game for yourself.

As Offensive Combat enters open beta testing, U4iA Games is unleashing some new content, as well. If you've played the game in closed beta, you will notice that open beta includes new Pwns, new characters, a revamped weapon system and new weapons for it as well as customizable skill trees for each of your custom classes.

The game is free to play and only requires a quick install of Unity, the game engine that powers Offensive Combat. Check the game out at http://www.offensivecombat.com/ and be sure to add FPSGNate to your friends list so we can battle it out in Offensive Combat!

  • Offensive Combat Checks In As OUYA's First FPS Release

U4iA Games has announced a partnership with the makers of the next exciting home gaming console, OUYA, to bring Offensive Combat to their platform. This makes Offensive Combat the first confirmed FPS game to be coming to the new console.

The studio is comprised of some legendary industry veterans including folks who pioneered games like SOCOM, Call of Duty and Guitar Hero. In the announcement, CEO Dusty Welch said:

"Everyone here at U4iA Games is excited to bring our titles to OUYA! Given that consoles are so expensive and face an uncertain future, OUYA stands out as the perfect example of an affordable home-entertainment platform created specifically for core gamers like us. We've used our profound wisdom to create a cheeky, free-for-all shooting mash-up called Offensive Combat. Moving forward, we can't wait to bring all-new games in the Offensive Combat universe to the OUYA platform."

Offensive Combat is a lot of fun and should be a really good match for the OUYA console, which U4iA Games seems to really be embracing. For more information on OUYA, drop by their Kickstarter page at http://www.kickstarter.com/!

  • U4iA Games Releases Brand New Offensive Combat Trailer

    • By NateRios 6/22/2012 8:10:57 PM

Earlier this morning, we did an in-depth story on U4iA Games' upcoming browser-based shooter, Offensive Combat. The game looked great last night at the press event and we really think you guys are going to have a blast when it enters beta later this Summer.

The trailer, embedded above, brings life to some of the customization that we spoke about in our hands-on piece. Including the banana suit that is quickly becoming something of a legend. Offensive Combat is not short of original ideas and features. When you see the characters performing victory dances over their enemies, it's not purely a taunt; players actually get rewarded for having the guts to stand in the middle of a battlefield and fart over your dead enemy.

Check out the trailer above and be sure to subscribe to our channel on YouTube for more great FPS content every day!

  • Hands On With U4iA Games' Upcoming Shooter Offensive Combat

    • By NateRios 6/22/2012 6:59:41 PM

Last night, U4iA Games (pronounced like 'euphoria') held an event to officially unveil their upcoming browser-based shooter, Offensive Combat. We had seen the game through screenshots and media online, but this was the first time the world got their hands on the game.

Our first impression of the game was bananas. Not in the slang sense of the word, but literally...bananas. On the floor, on the desks, just bananas everywhere. We soon realized that this was a reference to the vast, vast customization options in the game, one of which is a banana suit for your character (see below). If you've seen screenshots from Offensive Combat, you've undoubtedly noticed some pretty crazy things going on. From a lizard-octopus hybrid character to a rubber chicken as a melee weapon, Offensive Combat pretty much lets you do whatever you want in terms of customizing your character.

Every part of your character is customizable, so if you want to attach the lower half of a chicken to the upper half of a lizard, you're free to do it. But customization doesn't stop at your character's look and feel, Offensive Combat boasts a full range of unique weapons, items and equipment for you to do battle with. The weapons felt great, the learning curve was more than manageable. The game was easy to pick up and play, which we did - for about two straight hours - but ultimately, you'll have to hone your skills and fine tune your strategy to be successful in Offensive Combat. The pick up and play aspect of the game is very reminiscent of Call of Duty - and with good reason...

  • U4ia Games Announces Offensive Combat, Console Quality Browser-Based FPS

    • By NateRios 5/16/2012 6:02:07 PM

    • 0

U4ia Games has officially announced their previously unannounced project - Offensive Combat, a console quality shooter that we'll be playing in the browser.

U4ia (pronounced 'euphoria') was founded by Chris Archer and Dusty Welch, previously of Activision and Call of Duty fame, so right off the bat, the game has our attention. Add a Hawaiian shirt-wearing, octopus-lizard hybrid, wielding a rubber chicken, and we're sold.

"Free-to-play is the next disruptive, permanent shift in gaming," Said U4iA CEO Dusty Welch. "Consumers are moving away from the traditional console retail model and demanding AAA-quality games accessible on all their devices with no upfront costs. U4iA plans to satisfy those gamers with unmatched, competitive, core games like Offensive Combat, playable through your browser at a level of quality previously not thought possible, all running on our breakthrough E-Sport level server architecture. Since the game is launched right in their browser, players will be able to fire it up, connect with their friends, and play for free - with no need for additional hardware or software purchases."
