QuakeCon has officially kicked off this morning at the Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas! The event will feature a handful of gaming tournaments, panel discussions, playable versions of Dishonored and DOOM 3 BFG as well as a keynote address from id Software's John Carmack.
“QuakeCon is the culmination of a dedicated group of gamers, ranging from casual to hardcore, who make the trip each year to visit with friends and connect with peers on the largest LAN party in North America,” said Todd Hollenshead, president of id Software in today's press release. “We couldn’t host this event without such a devoted community behind us, including hundreds of volunteers and event sponsors who are passionate about making QuakeCon 2012 the most rewarding yet.”
The event is set to last for four days and features discussions from the likes of Todd Hollenshead, Pete Hines, Todd Howard, Chet Faliszek and many more industry veterans. As mentioned before, QuakeCon attendees are able to play an early version of Bethesda Softworks' upcoming first-person stealth game, Dishonored.
QuakeCon and all of its tournaments, panel discussions, addresses and events is going to be a blast. If you find yourself in Dallas, the event is completely free for general admission but is expected to fill up pretty quickly. For more information, drop by http://www.quakecon.org/!
