I've been spending a lot of time this week playing Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, the latest game from City Interactive. As I've been following the game's launch since last week, Istarted coming across some reasonably negative or sarcastic reviews. Some writers have gone so far as to talk about how Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 focuses too much on sniping.
Complaining about sniping...in a game called Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2.
I have to wonder what they were expecting when they purchased a sniping game. A submachine gun simulator?
Ultimately, the bad reviews have bothered me. Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 isn't the best game that has been release in 2013, but it's far from the worst (in other words, it's no Aliens: Colonial Marines). Right now, the game is sitting at 53 on Metacritic for the PC release. While I don't typically go in on traditional game reviews, I would put it much higher than 53. If I did traditional reviews, I would peg Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 at around 70 out of 100.
Here's why I think it's better than most reviews would suggest.
