• Half-Life 3 To Be Published by EA as Xbox 360 Exclusive

    VALVE ANNOUNCED LONG-AWAITED HALF-LIFE 3 IN GROUNDBREAKING PARTNERSHIP WITH ELECTRONIC ARTS.

    BREAKING BARRIERS WITH EXPLOSIVE HOLLYWOOD ACTION AND ALL-STAR VOICE CASTING

    REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - April 1st, 2013 - Valve Software, this morning, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Electronic Arts to publish the long-awaited follow-up to Half-Life 2: Episode Two™. Players looking to jump back into the shoes of the world's hottest theoretical physicist can do so this Holiday season with Half-Life 3™. Set to be the first game powered by EA DICE's revolutionary Frostbite 5.0, Half-Life 3™ delivers all of the cutting-edge Hollywood action and explosions that Half-Life™ players have come to expect from the franchise.

    Half-Life 3™'s groundbreaking story begins 20 years after the events in Half-Life 2: Episode Two™. With no explanation whatsoever, Gordon Freeman has retired to the sunny streets of Venice Beach, California. Hoping to live the rest of his life in peace, Gordon has opened up a Lemonade stand on the boardwalk. His freedom is to be short lived, however. When the terrorist group Beta Sigma Sigma comes out of the woodwork, threatening to destroy the United States with a lethal chemical weapon known as The Catalyst, the United States Military calls on Gordon to come to our aid.

    Fervently hoping this is his last mission, Gordon Freeman joins up with the Navy SEALs to take the fight to Beta Sigma Sigma in the heart of Afghanistan. This globe-trotting singleplayer campaign will take players to every corner of the globe, from the penguin-strewn vastness of Antarctic to the sweaty jungles of Myanmar. Gordon will be forced to use every weapon at his disposal, from the deadly Nausea Gun - causing anyone in its radius, including Gordon, to vomit uncontrollably - to the much-anticipated Vertigun that causes instant loss of equilibrium to Gordon's hapless foes.

  • Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 Crossover Coming in April

    Valve and Capcom have announced that the worlds of Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 will be mashed up in the best way imaginable next month as Capcom celebrates the release of Resident Evil 6 on PC.

    The crossover means new content is coming to both games, starting on April 5th, here's how it works:

    While Resident Evil 6 launches on March 22nd, the content won't go live until the beginning of April. When it does, however, it will include all four of the player characters in Left 4 Dead 2, made playable in Resident Evil 6. Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle will be playable in the The Mercenaries: No Mercy game mode, available exclusively on PC. Also coming to RE6 are the Witch and Mini Tank enemies, originally found in Left 4 Dead 2. This content will be available for free and will automatically update when it goes live next month.

    As for Left 4 Dead 2, players who own that game will get three iconic RE6 enemies; Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman. These characters were brought to the game by Valve developers using the tools available in the Steam Workshop. Again, this content will be free to download and should be available this spring.

  • Rumor: Left 4 Dead Prequel In Production?

    According to rumors going around, Valve Software is currently working with Overkill Software on a prequel to Left 4 Dead.

    The rumors match up with our report last month that Valve and Overkill were working together on a brand new project. Overkill confirmed that a new Left 4 Dead title was in production, saying, "We are working on a very cool blend of PAYDAY and Left 4 Dead. I am sure it is so exciting that it will have some players check into the hospital before we are done."

    The prequel rumor, however, is brand new intel. According to CVG, the prequel will tell the story of how the Zombie outbreak came to be and what happened before the original Left 4 Dead games.

    With any luck, now that E3 is winding down, Valve and Overkill will be able to start thinking about what they want to announce and when they want to do it!

  • Payday: The Heist Developers Working With Valve on Left 4 Dead Crossover

    Payday: The Heist developers Overkill Software have announced that they are working alongside Valve Software on a Left 4 Dead/Payday crossover.

    The details are not available as of yet, but with both games touting a co-op heavy style of gameplay, it seems that this might be a match made in Heaven. Overkill Software's Game Director Ulf Andersson touched on the collaboration, saying:

    As perceptive gamers will have noticed, several hints have recently been dropped into PAYDAY The Heist, which has led to various rumors. We are excited to be able to confirm that an in-depth collaboration between OVERKILL and Valve is currently in production.

    We are working on a very cool blend of PAYDAY and Left 4 Dead. I am sure it is so exciting that it will have some players check into the hospital before we are done.
