Announced last month, the Songbird statue is the centerpiece of The Ultimate Songbird Edition of BioShock Infinite. Standing at nearly 10" tall, the Songbird statue is a gorgeous piece of craftsmanship and we can't wait to check it out when the game launches next year.
If you've been curious about how the statue came to be, Irrational Games has released a fascinating little making-of style video. Ken Levine, Creative Director on BioShock Infinite, discusses his love of collector's items and some of the thought process that went into the Songbird statue. Levine, a self-professed nerd, is passionate about collector's stuff and clearly brought that passion to the board along with Concept Artist Rob Waters.
Waters spent hours working with the production team, fine tuning every little detail on the Songbird statue to the point where 'he probably drove those guys a little bit insane'. In the end, though, it seems like his affinity for details was worth it because the statue looks awesome.
The video contains some gorgeous close-ups of the Songbird, so make sure you're viewing in 720p (No 1080p available, sadly).
