    Tripwire Interactive is finally ready to give us all a taste of their incredibly anticipated first-person shooter Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm and FPS General has you covered with closed beta access!

    If you're not familiar with the game, Rising Storm began as a full conversion mod for Red Orchestra 2 before Tripwire Interactive approached the team and offered them full backing from the studio. The teams worked together and Rising Storm was born. This is a full standalone game built upon Red Orchestra 2 framework, but one that moves the action from Europe to the Pacific Theater of War during World War II.

    Player will take part in some of the most iconic battles between 1942 to 1945 as the United States Army and Marines fought endlessly against the Japanese Imperial Army and Navy.

    So, how do you get into the Rising Storm closed beta?

  • Tripwire Interactive Offers Our First Look at Rising Storm Expansion For Red Orchestra 2


    Last month at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Tripwire Interactive was showing off some early Alpha footage of the upcoming Rising Storm expansion for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad. This expansion shifts the focus in Red Orchestra to the Pacific theater of war, featuring battles between Japanese and American forces in a totally new environment.

    Rising Storm initially started out as a mod for Red Orchestra 2, sponsored by Tripwire Interactive to help it get off the ground. Things progressed so well, however, that the team has converted the whole thing into a full-on standalone expansion for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad. This means that if you pick up Rising Storm when it launches, hopefully later this year, you will also be able to select Red Orchestra 2 maps from the core game. It is unclear whether you will need to purchase both games, or if buying Rising Storm gets you core content from Red Orchestra 2, as well.

    Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad for $4.99 is such a good deal, we were tempted to just make this article one big screenshot of the game with a link to the Steam listing for it. At first glance, Red Orchestra 2 for $4.99 makes us not even want to scour the store for more shooters for sale, because our FPS General Pick of the Day is already going to be Red Orchestra 2.

  • Red Orchestra 2: Game of the Year Edition Price Slashed in Half

    Tripwire Interactive has announced that the price of their World War II shooter, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, has been slashed in two, down from $39.99 to just $19.99.

    This comes shortly after the release of the Red Orchestra 2: Game of the Year edition. The game of the year edition celebrates Red Orchestra 2 winning 'Multiplayer FPS of the Year' from PC Gamer. The new edition comes with the base game plus brand new game modes, a new multiplayer map and a handful of bug fixes and performance tweaks, making this the definitive version of Red Orchestra 2. 

    If you already own Red Orchestra 2, your game will automatically be updated with the new Game of the Year content update. Additionally, if you're hoping to convince players why they should check out Red Orchestra 2, owners of the game have been given a Guest Pass which you can gift to a friend on Steam. The guest pass will get them into Red Orchestra 2 temporarily without any cost to you or them.

  • Tripwire Announces Red Orchestra 2: Game of the Year Edition

    Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad released in the later part of 2011 and went on to take PC Gamer's Multiplayer FPS of the Year award.

    To celebrate this achievement, Tripwire Interactive has announced the Game of the Year edition of Red Orchestra 2. The Game of the Year Edition features the original Red Orchestra 2 game but on top of that, you'll get a brand new multiplayer map, a handful of new game modes and more features!

    The content includes:

    • "Action" mode - Featuring a crosshair, easier aiming and toned down recoil, reduced damage and open access to a wide range of weaponry Action mode is the perfect first step for players into the world of Red Orchestra.
    • "Classic" mode blends the gameplay innovations of the new game with the tactical and edgy gameplay of the original giving the fans of the first game exactly what they want.
    • Mamayev Kurgan - complete new map, featuring both close-quarters battles in trenches and bunkers, as well as longer ranged combat across the famous hill in Stalingrad
    • Refined and improved gameplay across the board, vehicle improvements, and way better performance and polish. We listened to the community and based on their feedback refined and tweaked almost every major feature in the game!

    If you already purchased Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, never fear! The additional Game of the Year content will be automatically added to your game in an update.
