  • Behind the Scenes on Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's Khyber Strike DLC

Ubisoft is taking players back Inside Recon, in a brand new episode of the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier behind-the-scenes series.

This time around, Tommy Jacob - Creative Director on Multiplayer - is walking us through the recently released Khyber Strike DLC offering. Khyber Strike includes:

New weapons, new game and three new maps:

Switchback: Step off the main road leading down into the city and into a maze of ancient buildings and narrow alleys. The twists and turns of the alleyways turn every corner into a close-quarters deathtrap.

Palace: There's no time for reflection even in this magnificent relic. What once was a museum dedicated to showing the glories of the past is now a battlefield, with a massive courtyard at the heart of its contested ground.

Transit: A Moscow metro station makes for close quarters and close-range combat. Trains pulling into and out of the station add to the danger as Ghosts and Bodark slug it out underground.

The Khyber Strike DLC is available today and brings new maps, new game modes and new weapons to Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's online multiplayer mode. The three new maps include:

Ubisoft Red Storm has announced a brand new DLC package coming to their recently released third-person shooter, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. The Khyber Strike DLC will feature 3 new maps, 1 new multiplayer game mode, 1 new Guerilla mode map and a level cap increase of 10 ranks. All of this content also comes with new corresponding achievements.

The 3 new maps are Switchback, Palace and Transit:

Switchback: Step off the main road leading down into the city and into a maze of ancient buildings and narrow alleys. The twists and turns of the alleyways turn every corner into a close-quarters deathtrap.

Palace: There's no time for reflection even in this magnificent relic. What once was a museum dedicated to showing the glories of the past is now a battlefield, with a massive courtyard at the heart of its contested ground.

Transit: A Moscow metro station makes for close quarters and close-range combat. Trains pulling into and out of the station add to the danger as Ghosts and Bodark slug it out underground.

The Guerilla mode map is called Village and takes place in a peaceful country village, suddenly caught up in the maelstrom of war.

Finally, we have 'Takeover', the brand new multiplayer game mode. In Takeover, players face off in a classic team deathmatch style game mode...with a twist. Both teams have objectives to defend/attack in addition to the straight forward battle to be the first side to reach the set amount of kills first. Controlling the objective earns your team a bonus score multiplier.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's Khyber Strike DLC will be available on October 10th for 800MSP/$9.99.

  • Ubisoft Goes Behind The Scenes on Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Raven Strike DLC

Last month, Ubisoft revealed that the next DLC offering for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier would be called Raven Strike. Well, now we're getting our first good look at the content in a behind the scenes video released moments ago.

In this episode of Inside Recon, Community Developer Zack Cooper gives us a great overview of what to expect in Raven Strike. The DLC is mainly geared towards singleplayer, and expands the campaign significantly. All told, there are three brand new missions in Raven Strike, including:

    • Secure Dawn
    • Cold Walker
    • Argent Thunder

What's more, all of these missions will be playable cooperatively with up to four other players. Raven Strike concludes with a brand new Guerilla Mode map, which we believe will be previewed in a later episode of Inside Recon.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Raven Strike DLC deploys on September 11th on Xbox Live and the 12th on PlayStation Network.

Gunnar Optiks have been taking thegaming and computer eyewear scene by storm over the past couple years, previously working on partnerships with Activision and now Ubisoft, with the Ghost Recon: Future Solder bundle, announced today.

Exclusively at Best Buy, players can pick up a copy of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and a pair of Gunnar gaming glasses for just $99.99. This offer is on select gaming glasses so make sure the model you select is applicable with this deal. On top of that, Gunnar has created a custom set of Gunnar 'sockets', which slide over the arm of the glasses and carry the Ghost Recon branding and logos.

The bundles will be available from May 22nd through June 5th, so act quickly if you decide to go that route. We've used multiple pairs of Gunnar eyewear over the past couple years and while the tint takes a day or so to really stop noticing, we definitely enjoyed using them. The reduced strain and enhanced contrast just looked good, very easy on the eyes and can make a different if you're feeling the stress of long gaming hours.

In this trailer, we get a good look at the story that Ubisoft has crafted in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. The trailer does a wonderful job showing off the advanced weaponry and gadgets that the Ghost unit has at their disposal, and talks about how the squad must use any means possible to get the job done. We had a blast with the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta, but we really can't wait to get our hands on the game's campaign mode next week.

  • Watch Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Alpha Today, Right Here

    • By NateRios 5/14/2012 7:49:40 PM

Ubisoft announced earlier this month that the physical copy of Ghost Recon: Alpha, the short film that serves as a prequel to Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, would be available in stores on May 22nd - the same day that the game hits shelves.

But if you're getting excited for the game and want to check out the short film ahead of scheduled, we've got the official Ubisoft stream right here. Ghost Recon: Alpha is a great, fun to watch action film that makes great use of the Ghost Recon property. The Ghosts are sent in behind enemy lines and discover a massive bomb. Facing off against enemy soldiers and a lethal (and awesome) mech, the squad must disarm the weapon and evacuate to safety.

The film features some really classy special effects - it isn't overdone or gaudy, but rather adds to the intensity of the film. It's rather satisfying to see the optic camouflage in action in Ghost Recon: Alpha, when he had such a blast using it in the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta.

  • Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's 'Arctic Strike' DLC Announced

    • By NateRios 5/11/2012 4:50:19 PM
    • Category IconGhost Recon: Future Soldier
    • 0

In a move that will undoubtedly not be popular with some of its players, Ubisoft has announced the first downloadable map pack for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - about two weeks before the game has hit shelves.

Arctic Strike is the name of the map pack, and it is set to launch on July 3rd. The DLC extends the multiplayer experience in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier pretty expansively, including "additional multiplayer maps, a new multiplayer mode, a new Guerrilla Mode co-op map and six additional weapons." This kind of DLC is most commonly found in a game like Battlefield, where DICE is known to release not just maps, but a full complement of weapons and vehicles as well.

Now, some of our readers may be thinking it odd that Ubisoft has announced DLC before the game has even launched. Why don't they just ship it on the disc? The way we view the situation is that Ubisoft isn't going to ship out Ghost Recon: Future Soldier a few days before launch. This game has to have gone gold - meaning that it is finished and initial development has stopped - quite a ways in advance, so that they can facilitate getting copies made up and bundled into cases for three separate platforms.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier takes place in a near-future setting, with advanced weaponry and technology. The excellent digital retailer GOG.com has just put up Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell into their digital store for the low, low price of $9.99.

Splinter Cell was a really innovative game when it launched in 2002 and remains to this day a great game. Splinter Cell puts a heavy emphasis on the stealth aspect of special operations, with players taking the role of Sam Fisher. Fisher has the full might of the United States behind him but they will never admit that his agency even exists; his missions are of such a sensitive nature that they never officially existed in the first place.

Fisher is inducted into the Third Echelon with an important first mission. Two CIA agents have disappeared in T'Bilisi, Georgia after investigating communications blackouts in the area. Fisher will uncover more than a couple of corpses when he infiltrates the Georgian government and unveils a threat that will have devastating consequences for the American people.

Splinter Cell is a Good Old Game if ever there was one, paving the way for games like Black Ops. The game can be picked up on GOG.com for $9.99 - go get it!

  • Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's Gunsmith Tool Gets a Trailer

    • By NateRios 4/26/2012 7:42:02 PM
    • Category IconGhost Recon: Future Soldier

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's weapons customization is really in depth. Really...really in depth. As this trailer shows, there are so many different options when customizing your loadout, we don't think you'll ever get to all of them.

In Gunsmith mode, players can break down their weapon and swap out nearly every single part for a different, upgraded part. This includes the optics, trigger, paint scheme, stock, top rail, side rail, muzzle, gas system...if it's a moddable weapon part, you can modify it in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. The game gives you credits, a currency system that allows you to purchase upgraded or modified parts for your preferred weapon.

We've been having a blast with the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta, but the recoil on our AK-200 has been making us look foolish. Jumping into Gunsmith mode with 6 credits to our name, we made some modifications. The first addition was made in Optics, we added a simple non-magnifying red dot sight. Next up, we added an angled foregrip to the underbarrel of the rifle - this increases control, reducing that recoil that's been giving us a headache. Moving up the rifle, we modified our gas system to an under-gassed system which also increased our control, while decreasing our rate of fire in exchange. Moving to the back of the firearm, we added a fixed stock that again increases our control over the weapon.
